I agree VB, it seems there are benefits to taking it. But it is irresponsible and insensitive of someone to come onto a public forum and claim that it cures cancer and aids. That is the issue I have.

Death isn't a disease, it is the natural end of things which man(kind) would attribute to being either being killed by something you have done to yourself (eg cancer thru smoking) or not (eg cancer thru second-hand smoke or, more likely here in Doha, being run over by an LC). Whether these seeds cure you of the cancer or not, and regardless of whether you follow Mohammed (PBUH) or Jesus (PBUH) when God says your time is up, your time is up, inshallah for all of us is a long way away.

In addition, the excessive T-cell function of the person suffering from allergies are stabilized through the substance in black seed oil and the abnormally rising immune reactions through supressed anti-bodies. The excessive immune system is normalized and the large cell degranulation decreased.
Studies also testify that an immune system which has gone wrong can again be regulated by the strong effect of the oil. Schleicher, meanwhile, has tested the effect of the oil on 600 patients. As a result he confirms the cure for allergies at about 70% of the patients. Amongst them are allergies against pollen and dust, acne and neuro-dermatological illnesses, asthma patients, etc.. who generally have a weak resistence and are prone to suffer from infections. For that reason Dr.Schleicher in Munich is going to include the oil with his preventative treatment against colds and influenza.

Histamine is a substance released by body tissues, which often causes allergic reactions and is associated with conditions such as bronchial asthma. In 1960, scientists discovered that a substance called Nigellone (dimer dithymoquinone) isolated from Black Seed’s volatile oil suppressed asthma symptoms in a majority of patients when given orally.
As early as 1960, it was reported that Black Seed oil has an anti-inflammatory effect and that it could be useful for relieving arthritis pain. Following up on these claims, a group of scientists from Kings College, Department of Pharmacy, London, decided to test Black Seed oil and its derivative thymoquinone as an anti-inflammatory agent. It was discovered that the agents possessed anti-oxidant activity and inhibited eicosanoid generation in cells. Certain eicosanoids (short lived local tissue hormones) are responsible for the inflammatory response whereas anti-oxidants help to slow cartilage degeneration.
The inhibitory effect on eicosanoid generation, however, was higher than could be expected from thymoquinone alone. This suggests that other compounds in the oil might be responsible for the enhanced anti-inflammatory reactions in cells. Researchers concluded that pharmacological properties of Black Seed and its derived products support the traditional use of Black Seed as a treatment for rheumatism and related inflammatory diseases.
In Europe ongoing scientific research has fueled immense public interest into the health benefits of using Black Seed, particularly in Austria and Germany, where Black Seed supplements are sold in most health stores and it is popularly regarded as an effective alternative medicine. It also has been the subject of intensive scientific research indicating that it strengthens and stabilizes the immune system and is greatly beneficial in the treatment of allergies. It has been found to be beneficial in the treatment of impotence when the causes are primarily physiological.

Azam - if someone is posting claims that they know of a product that will cure cancer, diabetes and aids, I think it is necessary for people to point out the unlikelihood of this being true.
The onus is on those making the claims to prove they're true, so if you believe that this oil really will cure these diseases (do you really believe that?), which until now scientists have found to be incurable, then I suggest you carry out some research yourself on victims of those diseases, then present your findings.

USA and UK have done alots of researches on black seeds and its products and claimed that they are unable to know many aspects of the seeds. So I request you to think first then comment.

Pregnant women must not use this black cumin or its oil please because black cumin has the property to excreat all foriegn materials from the body. In short black cumin will abort the embryo.
It was not just Prophets who knew abt germs, guys! Quite a lot of ancient civilisations knew abt hygiene and the existence of pathogens. Prophets just used religion as a medium to convey practical knowledge that existed even before them.

About heat and cold
This is where you resort to the Einstein's Theory of relativity which simply states that nothing is absolute, everything is relative.
When you say something is x meters long, it means the thing is x times longer than the standard meter which has been defined as "the length of a metal rod kept in some institute in paris at Standard temperature and pressure." It is "relative" to something else.When you say temperature is 25 degrees you have to say whether its Fahrenheit or Kelvin/Celsius without which it doesn't make sense!
This concept again has got nothing to do with god, but the student is only using it to oppose the principal's concept of duality. Again the student doesn't say anything about good and evil. He is only opposing that with arguments about heat and cold (which even science calls relative) to oppose the concept of duality without addressing the professor's question of good and evil, god and Satan!

Technically speaking, Humans didn't come from monkeys, as in; a monkey did not give birth to a human being one fine morning. But we belong to primates and followed the same evolution process. If you check the DNA of a chimpanzee, it is 98.4% similar to those of human beings.
The theory of evolution is still under debate(meaning there are a lot of scientists who are sceptic about some postulates of the theory). So the professor was not teaching his opinion (as the student surmised), he was teaching a theory, or one of the theories rather, which tries to explain evolution. No scientist will ever say that Darvin's theory is the final answer to the question of evolution. It is a theory based on study of a lot of species around the world, which took Mr. Darvin 30 yrs of his life in the ship called H.M.S Beagle. (It did not take the clergy more than a coupla days to call it blasphemy without even bothering to see what it said.) Study of fossils, volcanic, oceanic and geographic data, study of cellular molecular structure of a large variety of species existing and extinct all point their fingers at evolution.
If you could discover things only with your five senses we would be much backward than we are now. A good chunk of science deals with hypothesis and assumptions rather than the five senses. How else do you forecast weather, solar and lunar eclipses? Atoms n molecules were talked about much before the invention of microscopes and such.
There are things in science which are purely based on calculations, extrapolation of available data and assumptions. But the difference is that ...(drumrolls please)..NOTHING IS BASED ON PURE FAITH....

Principles of duality or the five senses are not things that can prove or disprove existence of god. They can only be used to use as premises to argue without really touching the subject. Here the professor's premises are wrong and the student is only opposing those premises without proving anything about the existence/non-existence of god.

well, coupla days back I went to a clinic and got a root canal done. which means, I had a guy I had met just 10 mins back, bring high rpm drills, syringes and some other really scary looking stuff and work on my tooth. did I believe in him? It depends on ur definition on belief. But it get my tooth ache cured , irrespective of my 'belief'.

Death isn't a disease, it is the natural end of things which man(kind) would attribute to being either being killed by something you have done to yourself (eg cancer thru smoking) or not (eg cancer thru second-hand smoke or, more likely here in Doha, being run over by an LC). Whether these seeds cure you of the cancer or not, and regardless of whether you follow Mohammed (PBUH) or Jesus (PBUH) when God says your time is up, your time is up, inshallah for all of us is a long way away.

Recently scientists around the world have confirmed the anti-bacterial and anti-mycotic effects of black seed oil. Health practitioners in various countries around the world are using the oil against inflamation of all sorts as well as fungi infections. Even a remarkable reduction of blood sugar levels has been found by scientists. Black Seed extracts have been found help tostimulate bone marrow and immune cells, so writes the scientists of the Cancer Immuno-Biology Laboratory and adding that it raises the interferon production, protects normal cells against cell destroying effects of viruses, destroys tumour cells and raises the number of anti-bodies producing B cells.
All these functions make the Black Seed oil the ideal candidate for the prevention and treatment of cancer. Scientists are now busy finding the effects of the Black Seed oil in regard to various other human health conditions. Dr.Med.Peter Schleicher, an immunologist, in Munich who in 1986 happened to be nominated the youngest member of the World Academy of Scientists, examined black seed oil in his institute to find new therapies for chronic illness and its effect. His findings are identical to those in previous studies by earlier researchers. Schleicher says, by using Black Seed oil, valuable unsaturated fatty acids, for example Linoleic and Gammalinolen acids, get into the organism. By that it is possible to reach a synthesis of important immune regulating substances derived from Prostaglandin E1. Linoleic acid stabilizes the cell membranes and Prostaglandin has the effect of inhibiting inflamation. By that the immune reactions are stopped which cause the illnesses and which otherwise could be the start of many many chronic illnesses like acne and hayfever right up to cancer. In addition, the excessive T-cell function of the person suffering from allergies are stabilized through the substance in black seed oil and the abnormally rising immune reactions through supressed anti-bodies. The excessive immune system is normalized and the large cell degranulation decreased.
Studies also testify that an immune system which has gone wrong can again be regulated by the strong effect of the oil. Schleicher, meanwhile, has tested the effect of the oil on 600 patients. As a result he confirms the cure for allergies at about 70% of the patients. Amongst them are allergies against pollen and dust, acne and neuro-dermatological illnesses, asthma patients, etc.. who generally have a weak resistence and are prone to suffer from infections. For that reason Dr.Schleicher in Munich is going to include the oil with his preventative treatment against colds and influenza.
In the Middle East and South Asia, this oil has been used for thousands of years as a remedy for all sorts of allergies, inflamation and menstruation problems, boosting moral, depression; but especially against bronchitis, asthma and neuro-dermatitis as well as poor digestion and even impotency. The Prophet Mohammad (s) stated in his "Hadith" that black seed oil cures every illness except death. No wander then that a little bottle of the oil was even found in the tomb of the legedary Pharoah Tutankhamen..!
In the West the effect of the oil has been used for a long time against wind, dysentry, stomach and lungdisease, jaundice, diuretic problems and to increase nursing mother's milk. Due to the triumphant advancesin chemistry the oil has been forgotten until recently. According to Dr. Schleicher the reason why this oil is so exceptional is that its component parts act in unison to produce an optimum effect for so many complaints. But one has to make sure that only the pure and tested oil is being used.
Schleicher's colleagues have reacted very positively after the publication about his success with patients who haveused the oil. Professor G. Rietmuller, Director of Institute for immunology at the University of Munich believes that this plant extract works positively on the immune system and could be used as a bio-regulator. Professor Michael Meurer of the Dermatology Clinic in Munich has for a long time been convinced about the success of this oil. From his experience the oil help stop inflamation and helps with neurodermitis.
At the International Cancer Congress in New Delhi last Autumn the anti-tumour effect of black cumin oil has been introduced to many scientists and doctors.

A common misconception about these so-called "dietary supplements" is that people have a tendency to say, "Oh, why not try it, it can't hurt." Traditionally Black Seed has been used for a variety of ailments including bronchitis, asthma, rheumatism and related inflammatory conditions, increasing milk production in nursing mothers, digestive and eliminative disturbances, parasite infection and supporting immunity. Its oil is used to treat skin conditions such as eczema and boils and is used topically to treat cold symptoms. The classic text Medicines of the Prophet lists as many as fifty illnesses for which Black Seed has effective healing qualities.
Because of its complex chemical structure — it has over one hundred active ingredients — black cumin has positive effects on the respiratory, immune, circulatory, digestive, and urinary systems. It is potentially effective against asthma, stomach ailments, and numerous skin conditions, ranging from acne to psoriasis. Its many uses has earned it the popular title “Seed of Blessing”.
Modern Research
Over 150 research papers on Black Seed have been published in recent times confirming many of the healing properties traditionally attributed to Black Seed.
In 1987, a study conducted at I.I.M.E.R. Panama City, Florida verified the immune-supporting action of Black Seed. Two randomized groups of volunteers received one-gram of Black Seed capsules twice daily or a placebo. A complete lymphocyte count carried out before and after four weeks of administration revealed that the majority of subjects who took Black Seed displayed a 72% increase in helper-to-suppressor T-cell ratio as well as an increase in NK (natural killer) cell functional activity.

Histamine is a substance released by body tissues, which often causes allergic reactions and is associated with conditions such as bronchial asthma. In 1960, scientists discovered that a substance called Nigellone (dimer dithymoquinone) isolated from Black Seed’s volatile oil suppressed asthma symptoms in a majority of patients when given orally.
As early as 1960, it was reported that Black Seed oil has an anti-inflammatory effect and that it could be useful for relieving arthritis pain. Following up on these claims, a group of scientists from Kings College, Department of Pharmacy, London, decided to test Black Seed oil and its derivative thymoquinone as an anti-inflammatory agent. It was discovered that the agents possessed anti-oxidant activity and inhibited eicosanoid generation in cells. Certain eicosanoids (short lived local tissue hormones) are responsible for the inflammatory response whereas anti-oxidants help to slow cartilage degeneration.
The inhibitory effect on eicosanoid generation, however, was higher than could be expected from thymoquinone alone. This suggests that other compounds in the oil might be responsible for the enhanced anti-inflammatory reactions in cells. Researchers concluded that pharmacological properties of Black Seed and its derived products support the traditional use of Black Seed as a treatment for rheumatism and related inflammatory diseases.
In Europe ongoing scientific research has fueled immense public interest into the health benefits of using Black Seed, particularly in Austria and Germany, where Black Seed supplements are sold in most health stores and it is popularly regarded as an effective alternative medicine. It also has been the subject of intensive scientific research indicating that it strengthens and stabilizes the immune system and is greatly beneficial in the treatment of allergies. It has been found to be beneficial in the treatment of impotence when the causes are primarily physiological.
It seems Black Seed can be helpful for just about anything. However its use is not recommended during pregnancy. While much still remains to be investigated, studies conducted thus far, confirm Black Seed as a natural panacea.
Suggestions for using Black Seed
Black Seed is available as pure oil and capsules. Either form may be taken preventively and for immune support. For arthritis, swallow capsules; apply pure oil to affected area.
For respiratory problems, dilute oil (1 part Black Seed oil to 5 parts olive oil), rub on chest and back; heat some oil and inhale the vapors. For head cold, rub forehead and sides of face close to the ears with Black Seed oil.
As an energy tonic, take the oil in orange juice in the morning. In spite of it being used for energy, Black Seed also relieves insomnia. For sleep disturbances, take one teaspoon of Black Seed oil and one teaspoon of honey in warm milk. Rub the temp-les with the oil and turn of the lights.

Azam - if someone is posting claims that they know of a product that will cure cancer, diabetes and aids, I think it is necessary for people to point out the unlikelihood of this being true.
The onus is on those making the claims to prove they're true, so if you believe that this oil really will cure these diseases (do you really believe that?), which until now scientists have found to be incurable, then I suggest you carry out some research yourself on victims of those diseases, then present your findings.

Black cumin seed called ''karim jeerakam'' in my language has got medicinal values. In Ayurveda,its used in many compositions. I dont think it can cure ALL deseases though.. peace

Yes I do agree with you that it does not cure everything specailly those viruses which human being got infected thru others such as Aids/ HSV etc...
But if someone take these natural herbs on daily basis (limitied quantity) that person will not have other common diseases.
Also Honey and Cinnamon cures most of the diseases.

well, coupla days back I went to a clinic and got a root canal done. which means, I had a guy I had met just 10 mins back, bring high rpm drills, syringes and some other really scary looking stuff and work on my tooth. did I believe in him? It depends on ur definition on belief. But it get my tooth ache cured , irrespective of my 'belief'.
