Great comment! Incidently I had exactly this very thought yesterday when I watched old 80s movies trailers on you tube, thinking how awesome the 80s seemed to be! I started watching Class but the link did not work.

80s movies are the perfect escapism for me!

Oh, brit. That was 1 200 BC, not 10 200. And it was Ramses II and not the third. Cheers.

The best year, as far as I remember, was 10 200 BC. The Ice Age came to an end and we could stroll across the Bering Strait into the vast continent of America.

I loved the 80's as well. Big frizzy hair, loads of leggins, Michael Jackson was still semi-wholesome, Madonna concerts being cancelled for her "Like a Virgin" routine. Oh, and people wore their pants around their waist and their underwear on the inside of their clothes (with Madonna being the exception of course. No thong peeking over the pants, rap was MC Hammer and DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.

Sixth Form, first girlfriends, Uni, first car, first job, first house, first partner, first family - and still found time to party all the time!

Wow! looking back, how did I fit it all in?

yeah, I'd do it all again. dodgy music though on the whole - but fun.

By britexpat• 18 Oct 2010 19:32

I remember The Falklands - which made us proud and to join the army. DeLorean, Madonna with her pointy bits, Rubik's cube (which I never mastered), Chernobyl, Les Dawson and ofcourse the death of Tommy Cooper...

By timebandit• 18 Oct 2010 16:47

Actualy Brit... the main thing I remember about the 70's is the advertising on TV. One track mind I know... but especial the Birds Eye Beef Burgers.

Some of the music sticks in my head as well, Wombles... now that's embarrassing... and some superb summers and real winters.

Hang on.... isn't this an 80's thread ;)
