Wakrah for commute to old airport area

Hi,
Any views or advice on Wakrah? Especially the Ezdan properties?
My husband is working by the old airport and it seems the right side for him and the right price for us to settle in. What do you think?
I am over from the uk with our 3yyo daughter to look at houses with him for a few weeks before returning full time from mid December.
All advice on any aspect of Qatar life welcome
Thanks x

My family live in Wakrah (2yo & 1yo) and we prefer being out here to in Doha (I lived in Doha for 8 years). No-where is far from anywhere in Qatar and as long as you drive there'll be no problems with living in Wakrah. My hubby works in Old Airport Area and it takes him 10-15 minutes in the morning depending on traffic.

The beach is 2 minutes away and there's pretty much everything you need in Wakrah. Villaggio is a 35 minute drive away so is really not far at all. I'm not a fan of compounds so we're in a stand alone villa and they're cheaper then in Doha so you get more for your money. My advice would be to go for a villa with a garden rather then a compound but that's my personal opinion.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info :)

Mid December is a lovely time of the year is Qatar. The winter is beautiful here and you can do lotsa outdoor stuff.

One tip - People prefer to get their clothing from the UK, not only because of the better quality available there, but also because of the better price/ sales ;-)

Thanks for your replies. I will send her to school at 5 and expect we will move by then to A. by a school we can get her into and B that we like. I will home school her until then

probably more important to think of which school you are planning for your daughter, as this will be a commute for you twice in close sucsession start at 7:30 ish finish at 12:30 ish.

You also need to register with the schools as soon as possible as the places are very limited and usually have long waiting lists.

Wakra is about a 10 mins drive from/ to the old airport area. But if you don't wanna go down there, try looking at houses in the airport area (matar kadeem) itself.

I just saw a 3 bedroom single storey villa for about 7K behind Lulu Hypermarket, may go and check it out this afternoon.

Wakra is a bit far but not too far from the old airport area, perhaps you'd prefer to look at places in Hilal, Crazy Signal and around the old airport area itself.
