I will get visa on arrival and for my family as well on UAE border but what about my maid. I heard that maids are not allowed to enter even if they are travelling with their sponsors? Has any one experienced this? UAD embassy in Doha says to get visa on arrival for self and family only.

It probably depends on your nationality and your profession. I have gotten my housekeeper a visa at the UAE border once before after the UAE emabassy here told me they no longer issue visas here. It wasn't difficult, but I still had to visit and get the border post chief to sign off on the application (just an extra step on top of you and your family getting a visa).

My advice is that unless you are absolutely sure she will get one (i.e. you are an expat from a country which is issued UAE visa on arrival (with an engineer's or equivalent status-weird but true-all this counts!!!), don't take her. It would be really frustrating to be turned back and have to travel back through Saudi just to bring her home. And then there would be the hassle of getting a new Saudi visa to do it all over again.

As per the link below, it is OK for GCC nationals but not sure for GCC residents:

get a visa for your maid here in doha to avoid problems just in case UAE will not allow you to get visa for her upon arrival... as u said you have been told by UAE embassy here that only you and your family are allowed to get visa upon arrival in UAE... i guess that's the best thing to do...

no idea, but can the maid get a transit visa through Saudi if the UAE Visa is applied for before. And can tourists on a Qatar Visit visa get a Transit Visa for Saudi, arranged by Qatar resident before they arrive in Qatar ?
