Commisions on Rentals

Dear Mamoura Villa,

Finally, at long last, I found you! I have been painstakingly looking all over Doha for you. I have seen a lot already but nothing really compares to you though. With me living in you, I can say that you complete me.

What more could I ask for? You are fully furnished with, I may say, new and gorgeous furnitures, luxurious lighting fixtures, modern and functional kitchen complete with almost everything you need, massive rooms with welcoming bed and with full bathrooms you would want to stay all day long. You have a yard of your own, big enough for my children to play ther bikes. And you belong in a compound with swimming pool, tennis court, gym and function halls. And what's better is that aside from all your exciting features and facilities, is that I could almost afford you.

Then what's the problem? It's those pesky realty agents, who are asking for half-month rent commision. It's a bit odd that they are asking for commision from you rather than asking commision from the owner it self. The owners should give the commision since they are the ones who are really gaining, not the tenants. Here we are, trying to look for an affordable yet comfortable place, trying to save some amount on housing yet here comes those realty agents, just show you the room, and if you like it, they get half-rent commision other than the rent itself. They are like giant leaches trying to suck whatever life they could out of you. It's your choice to be sucked or not. I choose not.

Well, that's the reason I cannot be with you my Mamoura Villa. I cannot pay for an extra 6000 QRs for you, that I cannot afford, and my heart will bleed if I give the money to those devious people, who are trying to get something out of me with little effort. Maybe next time when these agents are gone or until I find your owner itself. I shall be with you soon, but if that time will not come, I'll always remember that I went inside you and almost had you.

Truly yours,
Halo

Charging commission to the tenant is not legal. They have to get their commission from the owner. I think you should ask them to give you the draft contract as the details of the owner will be on the contract.

its a tough market out there but agents who wants to behave like leeches.

From what I know, it's supposed to be the landlord/owners who should be paying the commission coz they got the agents services...NOT the tenant.

I sometimes get calls from people asking how much they gonna pay the agent if they rent/buy a property thru our company...WTH?

If other real estate companies/agents keep doing this, they're just steering those customers to us...which is GREAT!!! :D

I feel ya..paying brokers commissions sucks specially when once you move in Mr broker vanishes and you have to then deal with the owner anyways *sighs*

If all the estate agents were laid end to end - no one would be the least surprised ..
