Barwa Mesaimeer increasing rent

DOT
By DOT

Barwa housing mesaimeer served notices yesterday to its reseidents for 10% increase in rent starting January.

Now every where rents are on decrease, but barwa is going to increase the rent. All barwa residents are with very limited incomes, it will effect most of the residents there.

It might affect the overall market too, other landlords will follow the same increase. Already rents in Qatar are on peak, much higher than comparing to private sectors incomes.

People in Barwa are requesting Barwa management to reconsider the decision and continue the same old rents without increase. Because basic purpose of Barwa housing was social help to housing affected people in Qatar.

I am a tenant of Barwa Mesaimeer and would like to share with you that the property management company has informed us they will NOT increase the rent and renew the contract with the same amount (QR. 3000 for 2bd and QR. 3500 for 3bd apartments).

Many thanks to Barwa's management.

If this is really true, don't give in to their demand to increase the rent. Go to the rent dispute court and give your rent in there. The process is really simple and it is a facility there to use in such cases where you disagree with landlord over rent increase. And its the legal way to combat this menace of landlords increasing the rent on their own whims. Your old contract is automatically valid for the next year and the years after that.

Why we are defenceless. Any Reason?

By GIQ• 24 Nov 2010 10:48

Real Estate business is mostly conducted on the basis that the lessor has an instinct to prey and kill keeping in mind that lessee is defenceless and has no voice.

Everything is really turning into busines, aside from traffic violations penalty (wherein the Qatari locals can easily get away) and now barwa which is owned by local govt, what more ....

If this strategy of local govt. is constanltly happen ... some EXPAT will suffer and if will really hard to survive in Qatar....

success 1980: increase is from next contract. not for current which are expiring in January or February. so increase will apply from next contracts.

I wonder how can Barwa increase the rent amount while all tenants have already signed a contract...so it won't be possible to increase if the contract still valid........!

if Barwa do increase, then others might follow the same. many more will get increase also. since last year rents started going to normal rate.

Barwa both projects mesaimeer housing and sailiya housing were solely on social basis.

I thought Barwa housing was for people with salary less than 6000...and why are they doing this??

now, it's business time. It's normal and people who got units knows it will happen. You win some (they got a bargain before), you lose some (now, they are planning to increase). That's life here! Lol!

How stupid must people be to believe that a company like Barwa does anything based on social considerations?
