Tenancy contract, leaving qatar for good
By edeenadayalan •
Hi QL
I resigned my job and going back to india in a month..
I informed about this to my landlord and also told to him that one of my friend is ready to take over the flat.. But my landlord is not accepting and stating tht i cant leave the flat since i have a contract. I was paying my rent thru chquess....
He is saying as per contract i need to pay the remaming months rent( 6months)... Even though my friend is ready to take the flat...
Please help me in this.....
If u r leaving for good, you can terminate contaract by giving one month written notice with a proof that you are leaving qatar for good
He might have the right to decline your offer to transfer the contract to your friend, but I think under the Qatari law, there is a diplomacy clause that gives you the right to break the contract if you are leaving the country for good; I think you give one month notice and pay one month penalty. Ask someone in your HR department.
Hope this helps...
