It's interesting to see the disconnect between the OP and the comments on this thread.

WK - Companies didn't contact him because he has a moustache on his cheap X-ray maybe.

By anonymous• 12 Jan 2011 22:57

FU they are all connected. It's easy to see that the companies didn't contact the OP for any job because of his smell.

He only applied online should be ignored for the sake of the healthy discussion we are having here.

your peculiar smell and his heavenly perfume must be creating an out of this world concotion. Look on the bright side, if you two colloberate and get into the perfume and cosmetics business you both would have an outstanding product to keep away crawling and flying insects

for sure you don't know what is a nice smell if you're from india ~ you guys have this strong bonds to each another, this common smell you guys have is just one example.

roy2jacinto... I suppose this guy at your office has taken a liking for you and you for him and though you say you want to get away you seem to be stuck in there by choice. Have fun and enjoy the once in a lifetime experience and till the salary keeps coming dont complain much

Some of your points are valid.

I think we all know nepotism is rife. We all know that 'some' people over here apply for jobs they are not qualified for and indeed get them as somebody in HR knows them and they are from the same area.

It has been pointed out many times by many people, including me.

However, I would now not post anymore if I were you. You will get stalked and insulted!

There is no point in pointing out the obvious. I have learnt this the hard way.

The forum was typed by my wife while i was busy in some other work and she posted it without my knowledge before i could finalise it. Anyway thanks for all your valuable suggestions. Of course i am interested to apply in your company. you can contact through [email protected].

Thanks.

@colt45 - here's what happen. i have my hair straightand went to office; i got a memo from our indian HR insisting me to have my hair cut, because i am working in a corporate office. - i rushed to his office, told him that he should not care more about my hair instead do something about those bad smell; issue a memo to practice good hygiene because we are working in corporate office; i will have my hair cut if all indians "in our office" have good smell.

@Formatted Soul - our company is manged by an indian CEO, which is my "cheap boss". 90% of the staff are indians; i don't know how or where he hired these people but most of them, don't know what they are doing, and these people are getting the highest salary in the company. all their documents are tailored. we have an HR Manager, who's previous job is data encoder in HR office (don't even know how to compose business correspondence); Sr. Project Manager, previous job is foreman (don't know how to use computer) etc. these are the only few people i have mention, they're all indians. who doe's their job done? they have efficient expat staff from philippines.

@dahsuon - i am aware of that, even adobe's software ceo is indian, i also love m night shyamalan films, he's also from india. please note i am not implying to all indians. I said my "cheap indian boss" is hiring even unprofessional indians and put them in management positions. and my cheap indian boss doesn't like punjabi and malabaris. clear?

i am offering mr. jesudas a job in our company.. alright?

Cisco Certified, Licensed Microsoft Admin, etc. - but he doesn't know any in configuring simple router, install OS, softwares, etc. OMG! that's my boss guy, so it's not that simple for that guy to terminate, well i did many things.. until he voluntarily quit the job.

used to happen like that where I worked, a manager recruited (without HR knowing)someone from India who professed to be an expert in IT administration said he had all the qualifications etc.. turned out he could not even turn a computer on and his qualifications were not worth the paper they were written on. If this happened in the company I worked for in the UK, they would have been sacked for gross misconduct and misrepresentation but here, guess what, he was just moved to a different job on the same salary and of course he was only recruited in the first place because his brother already worked for the company... such is life here in doha

I found when recruiting for a well known organisation here that many candidates from the Indian subcontinent professed good english and excellent qualifications but the reality was often somewhat different, either their english was not what was stated or their qualifications were somewhat suspect or the level of their qualifications were not of the standard you would expect from western universities. in addition i would often come across statements of experience that the candidate just simply did not possess and would only really come out at an extensive interview or worse when they had started a job. i appreciate not all candidates were like this but a surprising proportion were - perhaps this is why established firms are more willing to recruit 'british and american' candidates at higher salaries - you get what you pay for.

By simplecomplex• 11 Jan 2011 12:12

It may be 'ability' on some companies (American and British) but most of the companies here in the gulf are biased. Even salary will depend on your nationality. :(

Few nationalities spoil the demands of HR Staffs, they are ready join for cheap salary then why companies recruit experienced people with high salary?

Errrrrrrrrrrr you want to work in international companies and your spelling and writing is that bad?

They probably don't believe your qualfications and experience because how could you hold those titles with such a low level of English?

No its not nationality - it is ability.

You really need to be patient. With your spelling and grammar, you need luck on your side. Nationality is another point.

I think you need to work on your spellings...as you are having a MBA degree.. if you are called for an interview...people will expect better English from you...

Patience is a virtue, everything you want can not happen overnight...And probably they didn't find your CV suitable for the position you are applying for. And don't be offended, you should also check first your grammar and spelling to get a job you are aiming for..
