LostInSpace said "some needed reminders to those idiotic people who wear a seat belt themselves but let their young children climb all over the place while driving at 160 kmph!"

This is very common and we have been saying this over and over for a few years now. The thing is the adults are very indulgent with their kids, drive a good vehicle and most probably trust their quick reflexes to protect their kids in the event of something untoward happening. I know that one can never take potential accidents for granted, but I'm just saying ...

But actually, they should realize that while their own driving skills may be very good, but a number of other drivers are not. It's the same with many of us who are good drivers in Qatar, we have to be careful of some other drivers who are pretty lawless, cut into our lanes without notice/signaling, etc.

WK that video sends shivers down my spine. Last night I was in a small Embraer 190 aircraft and the pilot attempted twice to land at Jeddah and aborted it twice. The plane was shaking tremendously and it was full of air pockets and clouds. Once I thought I saw the runway 100 m below through a small hole in the foggy clouds, and then it was all dark again. The noise was horrifying! The feeling was just like the last scene of United 93! No one could guess what it would come to. And to make everyone more nervous the guy behind me threw up.

I wasn't feeling so bad until a guy near me started his loud prayers in Arabic! Thank God! after the second attempt he didn't persist and diverted the plane to Madinah. when the Captain announced that 'bad weather conditions didn't permit us to land at Jeddah, so he will be heading to the alternate destination Madinah' there was a huge sigh of relief and claps from the passengers. Until that time all crew were out of sight and no updates were given to us!

Those few moments were so long and really spine chilling.

LIS, they won't understand until it happens to them. It makes my blood boils whenever I see that. I often pull up to some cars, whenever I can, and tell the driver to tell the kids to fasten their belts. Most of them didn't bother. It is good reminder to us all.

WK, that video was scary man...

This is a common thing that you find in the middle east and sub-continent. Parents are least bothered...

I have been here, i have never seen any kind of campaign related to road safety, quite shocking considering the amount of lives lost on the roads of Qatar yearly!
