Hi there how are you?

Have not had a reply from the Cambridge School website.

This news was reported here locally.

Mathboy, I am not saying this remarkable young man has not got them; I just think 23 'O' levels in one sitting?

I know kids and this is either not true or he took them over years and he 'ended up' with 23.

Interesting this young man made a point of saying the Australian Education 'gave up on him'.

This leads me to think IMHO, this remarkable young man could have Aspergers Sydrome.

I look forward to being proved wrong :-)))

Good to see you mathboy, missed you x

By sandtest• 27 Jan 2011 20:42

s_isale...who decides in Pakistan who is muslim or non-muslim?

this is what pakistan is reduced to...more pious killing less pious declaring them "kufr" in the frenzy bouts of display of their piousness

Ahmadiyyas, Shia's, Sufis, Naqshabandis being chased away by salafists

The example of Abdus Salam was brought up, i merely pointed out that even he was chased away because apparently in the eye of pakistani 'Muslims" he was not Islamic enough, his academic credentials not withstanding.

I am not a sore loser. I was not in competition with this young man at all.

He does indeed seem a very intelligent young man. This story could be true.

Looking at the Cambridge web site and the education offered; they do indeed get very good results. However; the only allow children of this age to sit up to 10 ‘O’ levels at any one time. Of course he could have taken them over two or three years.

On further checking the website also they give a full list of all children who have achieved ‘world class standards’ in Pakistan; the number of ‘O’ levels they received and the grades. This man was not listed there.

Also, although this could be a timing issue; he is not listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

I did not check this young man out to discredit the poster or this remarkable young man; I did so in order to prepare my apology when I was proven wrong when I casted doubt on this claim.

As far as I can see also the only press that have picked up on the story is the Pakistani press.

I will of course apologise when it is proven to me via Cambridge International who I e-mailed today and thus proving this young man did indeed achieve such wonderful results.

When I spoke of social interaction; when I saw him on you tube he came across as a remarkable young man who may have Asperger’s Syndrome.

Intelligent, if you happened to read my first post, I made the comment that maybe this boy should run for office in Pakistan one day to help bring the country out of the stone age. You don't agree that the government is doing a very poor job of running Pakistan.? Then I have this complete loser puffed up with his own self importance , standing on his soap box preaching to me about Pakistan, he who doesn't even live there, he who wasn't even educated there, he who secretly wishes he was white and western and excepted in the western community, he if he really felt so strongly about his country would return to help his people instead of taking every opportunity he can to splash his so called knowledge around, trying to impress others. Then he insults my intelligences by making rude comments about my age and where I come from. It doesn't take brains to make a bully and Mathsboy you certainly proved this point.

U need not to worry for "Ahmedi's".

By mathboy• 27 Jan 2011 11:19

Sandtest, I know about it. And it is sad how he was treated by some people and then Pak government. However, that was purely a political thing. Majority of Pakistanis love him and consider him a hero.

You missed my point entirely about quoting Abdus Salam in one of my above posts. We were talking about educated Pakistanis (not educated Muslims) and Abdus Salam is one of them. Despite the community he belonged to, considered non-Muslim in Pakistan, does not change the fact that he was a Pakistani. He died in Oxford and his remains were brought back home. He is buried in Pakistan. He did not renounce his Pakistani citizenship and did not accept citizenship of another country. He carried Pakistan in his heart wherever he went. According to Dr Ishfaq (President, PAEC 1998) Dr Salam was responsible for sending about 500 physicists, mathematicians and scientists from Pakistan, for PhD’s to the best institutions in UK and USA. He wore Pakistani traditional dress at his Nobel Prize ceremony; He was a Pakistani regardless of his faith. And, we own him.

I invite you to read more about Abdus Salam so that you can quote the ‘facts’ in context.

Mathboy do you know the fact -- How Pakistani Islamist Government & Rabidly islamic politicians treated Mr. Abdus Salam???

You brought the name of scientist Abdus Salam in a jiffy to prove your point, however you completely ignored the other facts.

Abdus Salam left Pakistan or may I say forced to leave Pakistan because he was declared "Kaafir" or Infidel!

Yes, you hear it right, Pakistani governemnet officially passed the law declaring all Ahmadiyya Muslims as "non-Muslim".

At the time of his death he was a resident of London & not pakistan.

Mai Tai! If I become Australian, what will you say to me?

- Head of state thing is about dignity of a nation. Since you are not familiar with this word, it means nothing to you.

- You really think you can walk down the street and you are safe? what if you come across Christopher Hudson or Dante Arthurs or John Sharpe or Ben McLean and Phu Trinh? What if Katherine Knight finds you? Remember this lady who skinned, cooked and cannibalised her partner?

- You said Pakistan is a land of trash and criminals. What your land is? Have you heard of Society Murders, Sydney gang rapes and Monash University shooting? What about Sydney teenager Lauren Huxley who was raped and burned alive in her home? The list is endless.

- How many women in Pakistan are stoned to death? Do you have any credible source to quote? Let's talk about numbers here.

- Pakistan has a culture where adultery is a sin. It is a crime as well. Pakistani culture does not allow a woman to have 20 ex-boyfriends before she is 20, or get pregnant at 12. We have social and moral values. Now please don't ask me what does 'value' mean.

- I am older than you and I have been proving that in my posts. My head is 50 years older than yours. Abaya is a great idea and it is for women ONLY, for chaste women, not for the ones who start every conversation with "my ex..."!

Old lady is in hot water...

Boring you keep chewing on the same old bone. what has , who is head of state got to do with anything! I am proud that I can walk down the street in Australia and not be surrounded by rubble and trash. I am proud that as a woman in Australia I would never have to be worried about being stoned to death. I am proud of too many other thing to list. The one thing I am not proud of is our immigration policy.

You look way older than me, have you thought about getting a bit of work done? An abia maybe?

Mai Tai, Now I like having conversation with you. Some points:

- Your ancestors were immigrants!

- Who they fought with?

- Do you know summers do not mean anything to us!

- You have not said anything about the 'dignity'. Are you proud of the fact that you have an outsider as your head of state?

- I can become Australian whenever I want. So what is the big deal?

- Do you really believe in your signature line "Education is the way to right the wrongs in this world?" If you do, then please get educated!

You are old but not too old to learn..

All the males have been in the army and fought for my country so i am truely an Australian. By the way if you think 36 is old then you will get a rude shock when you get to that age. If you want to think of it in numbers then if the world ended tomorrow i would have had more summers, parties, holidays and good times than YOU!

Mai Tai, In your simple English, you said you are waiting for this guy to grow old, get educated and run for an office in Pakistan. Even in Australian English, it means currently there are no educated people in Pakistan. This is what Abdus Salam had to do with your comments. This was to educate you. Alas, it didn't work for you. By the way, Pakistan does not need your suggestions and 'intelligent' analysis.

This 'third world country in chaos' at least does not have an outsider monarch as their head of state. We have our dignity.

Old lady, It is hard, but you need to accept the fact that we are smarter. This exactly is your problem.

This from Cambridge:

O Levels are designed for 14-16 year olds and aim to prepare students for academic progression (such as A and AS Level study) and equip them with the skills necessary for employment. They are established qualifications that keep pace with educational developments and trends. International O Levels are recognised throughout the world, by academic institutes and employers, as a mark of quality and evidence of real ability.

From the Daily Times (I presume a Pakistani paper)

Ibrahim Shahid, a 17-year-old student of Beaconhouse School System (BSS) has passed 23 subjects with top grade out of 24 subjects and has passed the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) O-Level with flying colors, earning a great name for the Pakistanis.

I am not saying this boy is not clever. I seriously doubt though he has passed that many O levels in reality. He is 17 for a start and yes he may have turned 17 after he took the exams but I don't think so.

I am not saying either there is no intelligence in Pakistan but I doubt if he could get 23 O levels.

If he did get 23 O levels; this boy is in serious trouble because with all that study he will have zero social skills; in other words- does not matter about the number of O levels he has got, if he can't interact in the real world he is stuffed.
