World class Doha Clinic pediatrician !!!!!

parabola

We took our son to Doha clinic as he had a very high temperature and was suffering from infection. My wife told the doctor (claiming himself as a pediatrician)that our son is allergic to penicillin and to avoid prescribing an antibiotic which contains penicillin. He gave us a prescription to buy an antibiotic called "Orelox" saying this is not penicliin. When we came home and checked this antbiotic on the internet we found out that people who are allergic to penicillin should avoid this antibiotic.

We are very lucky that we did research on this antibiotic before giving it to our son.

He was in a hurry and only took seconds to check our son.

Is there any proper clinic in Doha?..We had a bad experience with the clinic called "future".

Are there any proper clinics in Doha????????????

I had visited some hospitals in Doha...pediatricians in Apollo is much better than many places..its my personal experience....not necessary that others also have same opinion.. I am only taking about pediatrician (both are good) ...not other doctors in Apollo...!!!!

I appreciate the problem you have experienced. I think you should go and complain at the ministry of health.

Based on my personal experience as a drug allergy sufferer (I am allergic to Codeine, Morphine and Papaverine), I recommend that you ALWAYS double check what the doctor prescribed with the pharmacist, because the pharmacist is a chemist, and he/she should ultimately know the composition and risk of the drug.

You should always insist on talking to an actual licensed pharmacist (not a sales person working at the pharmacy) and tell him/her about all your drug allergies AND all the drugs that you are currently taking.

Last year, a doctor from a Apollo clinic prescribed an antibiotic to my wife that could make her birth control pill ineffective. You probably know that getting pregnant while on the pill almost always results in serious problems to both mother and child. The doctor did NOT ask her whether she was on the pill or not. However, the (luckily) alert pharmacist actually asked her whether she was taking a birth control pill or not and gave her an alternative antibiotic.

However, you cannot always count on the pharmacist to be alert. It is a very good thing that you double checked your child's prescription online.

Eeerrr Al Ahli without doubt don't trust any of these mickey mouse clinics, I was relieved to see a western trained doctor there! Phew! Actually, western trained doctors are better.......end of

Yes, common perception is that westerners are better but I don't know, I've also had some good experience with pediatricians from middle eastern countries. Good for you parabola and for keeping an eye on everything.

I was not having a bad day...The doctor was ignorant and careless..He could have killed my child!!!!!!!!! If I can check the antibiotics why can't he? He is supposed to be a qualified professional. My child could have had a very fatal reaction to that antibiotics. I am really wondering whether this person is qualified or not (he is from one of those corrupted countries after all)..When we went to doha clinic that day all of the available pediatricians were from that country.

Why is doha clinic not employing some of it's doctors from western contries?...

By anonymous• 3 Feb 2011 09:47

Parabola, you need to report this Doctor, otherwise he will end up killing someone's child.

If you do mind about other, please find a way to get this addressed.

I would say it must be your bad day..

I am the regular visitor of DOHA CLINIC for any check up of my little daughter and i am fine with it..No problem with any PEDIATRICIAN so far...Consult Dr.Manal over others..

I find Dr. Maha as a good OB GYNE... and I haven't heard any bad experience with her.

If Doha Clinic has a bad reputation, people will not trust their doctor as well, but for an OB with not less than 50 patient per day? I don't think so... and I like the first come first serve basis there...

Avoid Doha clinic. The dermatologist prescribed me a months dose of antibiotics for a known pre-diagnosed fungal problem!!! (when my regular derma was on leave) I binned the prescription right there in his office, told him to go back to medical school and walked out.

FYI in case you don't know, anti-biotics don't work on fungal infections, they make them worse. Long term use can actually CAUSE fungal infections.

The girls at front reception act like they are perpetually on the rag. Mind you, their attitude is just fine when dealing with fellow arabs though.

Better to choose PEC, because PEC Doctors have got a training from Govt Medical Authority about the Qatar Climatically children disease, so that they have awareness about the spreading viruse, and also PEC stock the medicine in there pharmacy as per the instruction from expert of climate.

I found Doha Clinic to be crap.. But like you said .. It all depends on your own experience.

IT depends on that particular Doctor...go to some Indian doctors....

I had a very bad experience with an Egyptian Doctor in Al-ahli hospital...He gave SUPPOSITARY FOR 7DAYS(3PER DAY)For a small fever(100)for a 4 year old. When I asked him doubhtly,he said to give it even if fever is not there....

I think not all doctors are like that in Doha Clinic. First week of January I had this terrible cough coupled with colds. This doctor gave me a priscription good for one week. After one week i was 99% better compared that day that Ifirst came to consult my conditon.

Go to Naseem Al Rabeeh clinic near Al tadamon roundabout on D ring road.

The female pediatrician there is really good.

@ somwerNdmiddle: he and his wife told the doctor that their son is allergic in penicillin.

word "future" or "world class" without accreditation of credible international health organizing committee is not valid enough.

PEC or Al Ahli or Al Emadi will give you proper treatment.
