I can understand the kinda efforts put by Vic just by reading thru the topic. I am sorry for myself that i made it to Doha just a little late and missed this opportunity to meet some of the lovely Qlers. I hope we can plan out something in the near future even if it means keeping it small. I would be more than happy to meet some of the Qlers.

Loads of people say they want meet ups. Victoria decided to put this event together and opened it up to everyone. She gave all the people that have never been to a meet the opportunity to finally get together and socialize in a non virtual environment. She was supported by a couple of more seasoned QLers who turned up. But only 2 new QLers out of the many who got all exited about such a meeting bothered to turn up. I was there, and those that did turn up had a good time. Would Victoria organize another one of these, well you need to ask her, but I will bet the answer is no. She put loads of effort in and got let down by so many. Would I organize one of these? NO WAY!!!

So did the get together finally happen? Its a nice thought :-)

PMs were sent by regular QLers here who are out looking to get to know me (since I am new to Qatar) to which I did not reply since I am not intereested in this stuff. So finally who are IN and who are OUT for QL gathering???

I have been reading quite a bit on QL social gatherings and came to a conclusion that these social group meets are not for me. Guys like Jackmohan and his friends making rude comments about subjects that are very important discussion items and then asking newcomers like me for their real ID is nauseating to say the least. Chocaholic was one of the few who reassured me that Qatar is a safe place but I don’t think that is true, is it Victoria?

Victoria, I was contemplating joining the get together since it was an open invitation, but after reading some comments above, I wonder what these meet ups are about? I don’t understand what you mean by no fooling around, no off limits, and if someone wants to go off-limits do it in private? Seems to me like these meet ups turn into illegitimate relationships. I guess I now understand some of the other topics being discussed, like adultery, Risk, etc. I guess it's all good preemtive information if people want to get involved like this. It's good to know that people research such topics and then the topics are put in practice!!
