Carrefour thank you 50dirhams change....

funny experiece always in carrefour supermarket, cashiers no available coins for change to give back to the customers...i always experience it.First, cashiers will ask u if customers if they have dirhams instead custumers will ask and demand for it..since cashiers no coins to give it will consider thank you???wow such a big company no available coins to give to the customers...so it will consider it paying your bought items with extra 50 dirhams to the actual price..

So here's a twister...

At the end of the day, the cashier has to ensure that the correct amount is in the till.

My question - Is it possible that the cashiers are using this ploy to enhance the pay - with the blessing of Carrefour...

If they can add 5,8,15,18,27,dirhams to the total amount and they cant make it as round figure then why we should leave the 50dirhams to Hyper market ..instead we can add 50dirhams and give in charity.

true, not only carefour, its done by almost every hyper/super market

Not only carrefour is doing the same practice ... all of the supermarket's and hypermarket's in Doha actually,,, offering chewing gum or chocolait bars instead.

But whenever i got this small amount I always keep it together and when times come that Im running out of cash, I can able to use it some small items.

Sometimes we cannot notice but this small amount would be a Big help to us.

Exactly a calculation I did a few years ago. Well explained. The little shop opposite me always offers the 50dhrs....the hypermarkets...no.

Maybe half of your change is given to me, you can claim it anytime :)

i just post this, coz I pity those customers with the low salary,I was at the same counter queing with the nepali cleaner in front of me..he is about to pay a juice for 1.50.He was smilling before he pay the juice, after he gave his 2 riyals the cashier give back to him is just a receipt with out the 50dirhams and saying sorry no dirhams available..the cleaner just nod his head and left the counter with a sad face.Imagine with his supposed to be 50dirhams change he just add a riyal and have a bottle of juice for the next day...

pilipi_nyana... when she gave you that cocoa chocolate, that itself was a proof that they dont give change but instead something else...one of them refused me first time when I gave 7 of those chewing gums... but I insisted ... finally as the queue was getting a bit anxious the deal went through...:)

Best option is what a chain in Saudi does ..

They don't give you the 50 Dhs change, but donate it to a charity. This is shown on the recipt and verified by auditors at the end of the year...........

what can i do ...another Egyptian revolution against carrefour??

but when you mention the 50 dirham they will reply nothing.

Actually the government should do something about watching the prices.....

this is the pig issue that we are facing against Hypermarkets.

its about the stupid excuse they keep giving. They cant forego 50 dirhams for the customer but they sure are eager to take it. Best way is to always keep change in our hands so that they dont get to make this excuse.

rush at the counter I think is not a valid reason....customers are patient to wait for their turn...
