The senario is worse than I expected... if you can read more into Britexpat's comments especially ...if there was a "history of dissent"...

I am aware of their purchase of airpower as are all gulf states....

But in Libya too the US has warned not to use Air power.

This time there is media coverage... obliteration will not be that easy...

US is also very touchy on the use of force...

Also the Saudis' oil wealth could become their biggest weakness...

There seems to be some kind of manipulation... to engineer these Revolution... All this stuff seem to be pre planed... we will wait and see ... there is still time

The US won't interfere with KSA controlling its own people now, because it has not in the past.

The Saudi Thug is just trying to stay in power. Go Arabs, get rid of this tyrant. throw him out. The world will be a much better place without this illitrate and ignorant idiot.

The Saudis have the moment and the equipment and will not hesitate to kill thousands if needed. What it does do is put the US in a sticky situation. its biggest ally in the region bombing and shooting the the sh!t out of its own people, who to back in public.....

Another libya scenario, people are really serious about democracy.

Thanks for shedding light to the underestimation by jackmohan2007. Misconceptions without facts lead to idiocy.

I have worked with the Saudi Armed forces in the past. They are well equiped, but the powers that be usually use the Interior Ministry and National Guard when dealing with dissent.

This is nothing new for the saudis and they have expertise and experience in dealing with such uprisings - It usually starts with dialogue and ends with obliteration.

By global standards, KSA's military is fairly decent--the army not so much, but the air force has plenty of equipment and training from the US. In fact, KSA has been the top buyer of US arms for about ten years running, buying $10-15 billion worth a year.

I have no doubt that they could pound the villagers into submission, shred Bahrain and bomb a few Yemenis without over exerting themselves.

The Blue vehicles are not the army, but the Interior Ministry troops. They are specially trained for crowd control and demonstrations.

Can't really see there being a major demonstration in Riyadh, but the Shiite cities are another matter. They have had demonstrations over the years and the authorities have always dealt with them.

People think its only the locals... when a mob rises there is no such thing as a local or an expat...

There are so many people with out job lurking around... laborers living in pathetic conditions... drunk on acid...

I would say the Saudis are smart...

Must be trying to frighten their own people instead of the enemy like what is going on in Libya now

The real problem is the Gulf military is only for name sake..

None of them are properly armed or trained... The rulers are afraid if they empower the military they might get overthrown...

When things get a bit rough they will realize they are understaffed... and underpowered... and then things could get ugly.

The Saudis are scared. Just spent 37 billion buying off their own people and now they want to make sure the bar stays open to keep the rest happy...

just imagine how this would affect qatar and what would be the impact if in case saudi followed footprints of libya...

nothing much to watch anyway. Neither the west nor the east are going to be happy with Shias asserting their rights in Saudi and Bahrain

woah... One for the world to watch.

Look out Bahrain. I do not think KSA would hesitate to move in there if they thought a pro-Iran regime was about to come to power, and the US would likely do nothing to stop them.
