More.......On the Garden Route we stayed in self catering cabins on 2 National Parks, Wilderness and Bontebok. The view from the Bontebok cabin was beautiful. Website sanparks.co.za . If I went again I would use more of the SANParks. In Cape Town, stay at the V&A Waterfront area, we were about 15 mins walk away but better to be right in the middle.

We had a family holiday Christmas 2010, it was more of an adventure than luxury holiday. Flew to J’burg, drove to Kruger Park, then back to J’burg. Flew to George then drove garden route to Cape Town, then back. Car Hire “Tempest” cheap and no problem (use a GPS). Internal Flights Kulula.com again cheap and no problem. Hotel Chain Proteahotels.com. We stayed at Protea Hotel Kruger Gate. (Very good) and drove everyday into the park. Also took hotel organized safari, one early morning, and one afternoon/evening. One thing I would change: if you stay in only one place you have to return every evening to the same place. I would book the last night inside the park or at another gate so I could drive all day without having to double back.
