Annual car inspection rule change?
Our fix-it guy took my car to have the annual inspection done in the industrial area and called me to say the security people told him that the owner now must go and do it and it could not be done by him now.
He went somewhere else and got it done, but after he had finished the process he was approached by security there as well who told him that the owner now must take the car for inspection himself.
Has anyone else had this hassle or heard of this? I'm sure my employer would prefer me to pay someone to do this than me take time off work.
in our company also driver do the inpections of managers cars without them
my friend inspected his car on the 5th of march,
a driver took it and did all the procedures
This rule simply does not make any sence. What difference does it make to the safety of your car who it is taken to the inspection station by? My car is roadworthy & in good repair whether I take it to the car inspection place or someone else takes It for me. I would also assume if it was not roadworthy it would still fail with or without my presence.
I'm here in Qatar to do a job for my employer, why should I not be able to pay someone good money to do this time consuming, tedious job while I continue to do mine.
If they want owners to do it I suggest they open all day until 11pm like they do in Abu Dhabi (who don't care who takes your car for inspection). This rule just makes your life a hassle & it simply makes no sence.
Too many questions in my mind ...
What if i was at hospital or out of Qatar ??
What if my working hours conflict with the inspection timing??
Now, why would they make such a rule?? what is the objective?
If anyone can see some sense in this, please enlighten me ...
What happens if I am out of Qatar during the time of renewal?
Y'day i took my Manager's car to Wakkra Vehicle Inspection. They ask me to provide the Qatar-ID of my Manager and inspection was done without any further questions.
I had that issue last year so I just take it myself. It has to be either the owner or their sponsor that takes the car. I have heard of others having someone else take it for them.
As always, I think it's a case of who you know in this town, not what you know!
Obviously the agents are confused!!
of days back by an agent..
No problem
I tried to get my car done through an agent like this and he refused saying now the owners need to go there personally :-(
What is the rationale behind it though... I wonder???
And it absolutely makes no sense. Imagine a 70-year old woman owning five cars. Do they expect her to drive to the inspection? She keeps them for her children, but they aren't the owners.
Nothing applies to Qataris here. The rules are ONLY for foreigners!
I don't believe that this apply to Qataris also ..
since one of my Qatari friend just send someone for inspection and renewal of his registration without getting his B**T moved ..
That was last week by the way.
And it's one of these bizzare rules. Imagine, you own ten cars.
It's the rule since July 2010!
I doubt it that Sheikh Hamad takes his car(s) to the inspection. But you have to as the owner.
