In light of the recent announcement of the massive investments in infrastructure, education, etc. I have been wondering what Qatar will be like a year AFTER the world cup.

Any predictions about culture, population, cost of living, socialising, etc.?

for one thing sponsorship system will be long gone and local companies might have to compete with one another to make expatriates stay as some of the ones found in their hundreds and thousands out here now might find the returns unattactive to come out here compared to the better prospects that will open back home

Ask yourselves this - what will YOUR country be like in 2023?

I reckon Qatar with all its' 'faults' will be better than yours.

A bankrupt wasteland of half-built stadiums and a population disappointed to be the first nation to have had the world cup taken away due to bankruptcy. Apparently the gas became worthless due to a combination of a new fuel cell and a series of discoveries of massive new deposits in other countries.
