What has happened to humans? Der Spiegel last week published pictures of a few US soldiers holding up body parts as trophies.

Jeremy Morlock, a member of the rogue US 'kill team' has pleaded guilty to the murders of three Afghan civilians including a 15 year old boy.

To make the killings appear justified, the soldiers planted weapons near the bodies of the victims and framed attacks.

I know brit, IMO he should get a life sentence with no benefits, but does that mean we should throw fire on the US and all its citizens? That's my point.

The problem is that he'll be available for parole after 7 years.

Uranus1: Yes, it helps, but it was Der Spiegel that spilt the beans..

.. and they cut off Kenneth Bigley's head using a hand knife whilst filming it for the world to see ..... they then held up is severed head in mock triumph....

We live in a twisted world - deal with it - no side is any better or any worse than the other - there is no right side and there is no wrong side, there are just "sides". Life is very very cheap - blood money cheap.

does this make it humanitarian?

Let's here it for a free press that was able to expose these criminals. I wish more countries would follow this example.

Alter, one of the 'kill team' members already got ruled for 24yrs in prison, which in my mind is still a bit soft but at least that's something compared to people receiving a slap in their butt for murdering their maid or running over a laborer.

There are many ways of barbarism, there is a war in Afghanistan in the mean time, there is "love and peace" in some other places, including yours where people prefers aiming their sights somewhere else.

Sickening behavior no doubt...will the perpetrators get what they deserve is the question!

Indeed - who was guarding them and why were they allowed to get away with that barbaric act?

US, must be given space in Guinness book of records for all her barbarism.

You are right. Abuses occur. But there are a number of countries with soldiers in Afghanistan . Why the Americans ? Perhaps there need to be more controls in place.

in Vietnam but without the press being on hand to document every event.

This is not just an American issue, every nation has done the same thing, you can't train people to be killers of other people strictly by a rulebook, it doesn't work that way, once you have crossed the taboo of killing another human being anything is possible.

Look at pol pot in Cambodia, the Japanese in WW2,slightly further back in history, the dark ages brought terror to most of Europe.

My own country invented the concentration camp which killed hundreds of Boar women and children, these acts if inhumanity will be with us for as long as we walk the planet.
