Al Khor

Hi,

My family and I are moving to Al Khor (from the UK) in September and I was wondering whether anyone could give me some information on life there. Particularly:

- What is it like living in Al Khor
- What is the British Stream school like
- Is it a good place for family life?

Thanks for your help...!

Al khor community is the best! been visiting the place as often as i can, your children will be safe, in terms of staying inside the community, lots of great facility, lots of stuff to do inside specially if your into sports.. and if you just want to relax just visit Al Waha Club.. maybe will see each other there..

about the school, don't know much personally but i used to have 2 sister in law who went to AKIS, from what they have achieve i thing they have learn well..

Enjoy the Community!

Thanks Xena and the rest of you.

We quite like the quiet family life, so I'm not really too worried about there not being an active social life - and it is just a short drive to Doha for a fix of civilization :)

Do you know what the beaches are like there? Good for swimming?

besides being closer to the beach spots that Doha dwellers have to "trek" too, I am sorry to tell that Al Khor has nothing else to offer...

I have a British friend who works for the Al Khor schools too, and other than a few social get togethers they have, not much else. There is a community club house for swimming and gym and a couple of restaurants, but thats about it.

You will find you spend most of your weekends in Doha.

It is a boring place, even inside the compound its dead.

You will get plenty of family time as there is precious little to do.

Drive down to Doha during weekends to be at a less boring place but thats only comparatively speaking.

I will be working at the Al Khor International School (British Stream), so will be living in the Al Khor compound.

If you are moving into the Ras gas/ qatar gas community compound, then it is okay. Other than that Al khor is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Social life is deader than a dead fish. LOL!!
