Family Visa - Process / How long to Arrange

Hi, just been told i have my Employment / work Visa and that I will need to travel to Doha separately from my wife and baby daughter. I am UK engineer and salary / package is easily enough to satisfy the sponsorship requirements. My company has told me that it should take around 3 weeks to arrange my work permit / RP and that then I will be able to arrange the Family Visa on my sponsorship for my wife and daughter (both of them are on Philippines passports)to join me in Doha.

Can anyone confirm for me the expected timescale to complete the necessary permits and to then arrange a family visit visa for my wife and baby? Could I arrange Work Permit / RP and a family visit visa inside 4 - 5 weeks in total? Or would I be better arranging them to join me in Doha on a tourist visit visa once I have my RP - and then change them over to family visit visa once they are in Doha - is that even possible?

As they would be coming from Philippines is there any special problems / issues i should be aware of in this process?

I should be in Doha by mid June so I am also worried about Ramadan impacting the timeframe.

Thanks everyone, all comments greatfully received - I hate being away from my family!!

Hi Sandy, unfortunately my wife n baby are still on Philippines passports so they probably cannot come on visit visa on arrival? My salary package is quite high, > QR 35K p.m. So i am hoping that a salary cert with NOC will suffice for a visit visa for them to join me before Ramadan.

Hi Chairboy, thanks for your comments, thankfully the names are all the same. Im praying for a fast turnaround of my RP and then i can apply to bring them on a visit visa before Ramadan.

Thanks Chancellor. And i guess that i can then apply for a family visit visa once i have my RP? No need the three Months bank statement for that? Only my RP, salary cert, NOC, And copy of marriage cert, baby birth cert and copies of passports?

Cheers

I am mid way though this preocess and it has bee na nightmare BUT that is only because my wife's daughter is not my daughter - in other words she is my step daughter and therefore her surname is not the one that appears on my passport - if this is YOUR situation as well, stand by for some confused and blank stares - the authorities here unbelievable have a problem getting their pea sized brains around the concept of a wider family unit and the ida of step family. If this is your situation then u need to lean heavily on your mandoub (Immigration official) at work to get behind "the wall" that will be put up - do NOT take NO for an answer - you just have to persevere. If this ISNT your situation then default to above and it should be a piece of p+ss. Please let me know via PM if I can advise you further - glad to help.

for private sector you need minimum 3 months bank statement with clearly showing salary transfer to the account and should be same as mentioned on your salary certificate.

you can apply only after your RP is stamped. your RP may take upto 6 weeks given ramadan timings and EId holidays, you may get stuck here, best is to invite them on visit (since you are UK passport holder) on arrival visa renewable each month. for 6 months visit visa medical is required.

for public sector, bank statement and salary evidence is not required. After RP of yours directly apply for visa. submit passport copies, your RP copy, salary / NOC letter from the employer.

Submit it ot Labour Office- takes 1 week most. get the visa printed from the Immigration.

the process looks quite simpler but attimes gets frustatingly extended.

good luck

maximum period is 3 weeks, and they can make it soon as possible say, 1 week or 2 weeks

You can apply for a family visit visa Once your RP is ready

you need to submit a NOC form the sponsor along with filled application form and Passport copy , Salary certificate etc..

when Once your family joins you (Visit Visa) do Medical to both of them and extent it for next 4 months (Maximum Extention up to 6 months)

After completing 3rd month (Normal you have to submit 6 months Bank statement) you submit a family permanent visa request along with 3 months Bank statement, Application form , NOC from Sponsor and House rental agreement, salary certificate etc....

if the visa is approved, then go to medical and finger print and apply for RP

Thanks Chancellor - that seems quite a simple process.

What about the expected processing time to do my Work Permit and RP - is the expected 3 weeks my employer told me reasonable enough? I will be arriving with a work/employment visa.

cheers
