Bad Experience with Fly Dubai

Decent-Mind
By Decent-Mind

I recently booked through Fly Dubai for on 13/4 and returning on 17/4.
I checked in to the counter at 11pm ( more than 4 hours before flight time @0320 am. I was surprised by the counter staff whom refused to embark me, saying that my residence permit has expiry date less than 3 months (One week less).

I rushed to Qatar Airways office in the airport and successfully managed to purchase another ticket on QR flight at 0255 am as I had to travel to Dubai in same day.

Qatar Airways never object my RP date, neither Dubai Airport immigration authorities who accepted to issue my arrival visa without any problems.

I called flydubai from Dubai to prove that I had no problems with the RP and I need the ticket refund. but they claimed that this rule is applied by Dubai immigration authorities and has nothing to do with flydubai.

I told them that I already traveled to Dubai, but the staff kept repeating the same excuse.

I asked to talk to any supervisor but they did not allow and said that any one will give me the same information.

It was very irresponsible attitude from this company which imposed a negative impact and a regret to book on any of their future flights, even if I had to pay more than double amount on more reputable Airline.

Hi all, I am flying with Fly Dubai in a month's time from Doha to Dubai with my wife. I am an Australian passport holder, so no problem with getting visa on arrival at Dubai Airport hopefully, as my passport is valid for more than 6 months and my Qatar RP puts my profession as engineer. On the other side, my wife has Pakistani passport with Qatar RP and is under my sponsorship. However, her Qatar RP is exactly 3 days short of exact 6 months validity, i.e. we like to fly on 27th Oct and her Qatar RP is expiring on 24th Apr next year. Does this mean Fly Dubai will not issue boarding pass to my wife, even if we are travelling together?

Has anyone got recent experience on travelling with Qatar RP valid for less than 6 but more than 3 months, particularly with Fly Dubai as I have heard that they make most fuss about passengers' visa.

Thanks in anticipation for your replies.

Read the rules first before complaining about the airlines.

FLY Dubai's point was valid & fair enough. I wonder, how come the Dubai Immigration let you in.

it's the passenger's responsibility to check his/her own RP and not with the airlines...

and ignorance of the law excuses no one...

i admit i did not know them about that 6-month validity rule..it was my first time to travel within GCC then...good thing they let me flew to dubai..that was after so many questions & verifications..can't forget the experience...charge to experience for me!

If GCC RP should be valid at least 6 months, how did Qatar Airways allow to issue the ticket for me? and how did Dubai immegration allow to issue arrival visa ?

If Qatar Airways had same issue with RP, I wouldn't complain against Flydubai.

true, GCC RP should be valid at least 6 months to travel around GCC. I was once being held for few hours at Doha Airport due to this because my RP will expire in 3 months time. My Airline was Qatar Airways..

It is the legal requirment from the MoI Dubai that your GCC RP should be at least have validity of 6months. Check the website.

If QA ignored the rules, its not the fault of Fly Dubai.

Fly Dubai service is the really bad. But they are correct regarding the RP rule for visa on arrival. However Dubai imigration normally issue visa upto 1 month validity but thats only on their discretion. Dont blame the fly dubai staff as they are only abiding with the rules of the country

Just wondering that r u complaining against the ground staff(who gets minimum wages because they work for a low cost airlines and not the owners of the Airlines) or the regulations this airlines follows.Just want to remind you that an expensive or high fare local Airlines have always some privileges instead of a foreigner low cost budget airlines. You cant force them to follow your rules or other airline's rules in their company.

Fly Dubai was right in their stand regarding RP expiry . If QA provided you a ticket its a different matter.

Its just that Fly Dubai is just another low cost carrier whose personnel are not aware of what is going on around them and the other so called world class and five star airlines operating out here are not any better.

Atleast Air India and India gives their Air India staff the freedom to take the airline to the dogs and they are in the process of doing so
