Potential Job Offer

Hi Guys.....

How are you all......

I have been living and working in Abu Dhabi now for the last three years and may have a job offer in Doha.

Can you please offer me advise on average accommodation prices, currently my company includes accommodation, utilities and car this side, but would be paid a package that side and want to make sure I don't leave myself short.

I suspect the cost of food and such are on par with here in Abu Dhabi, I have read a few posts on comparison with AD and Doha but they are all a few years old, has Doha improved over the years.

I understand its not quite up to AD or Dubai standards but how would you rate it.

Thank you in advance.

If you have the Job offer, I would consider meticuluosly the Basic Pay as this will make or break all your plans at hand. For me, it is not what the weather, ammusements, or entertainment would be, but how much would be my take home money that matters.... After all, that is the bottomline.

I have a sister living in Abu Dhabi with her family for the last 10 years, and I have been in Doha for 3 months now. The prices for rent, food, transport, etc are all very comparable actually, and no huge difference. The traffic here probably is less than that of Abu Dhabi; but there isnt much to do in Doha as compared to AD or Dubai in terms of entertainment and fun, so decide wisely.

they left dubai and you know the market now. It's very difficult to get a job!

It sounds as if your present employer is not good.... then it could be better 4 u... your satisfaction is related to your expectations

Thx for the comments guys....

Just wondering on the people that have a negative opinion of Qatar.... if so bad why are you still there?

In UAE I work 6 day week, 12 hours a day..... the job hopefully will be about the same financially but less hours and better prospects...

Just the living, social, entertainment that seems to be a problem over there...

Hi, I was in the UAE for 13 years( 3 years in ADH and 10 years in Dubai) and moved recently to Doha thinking of something better.Things are not easy as UAE.. UAE is a loving country and it's always a second home for any expatriates.

There is no fun here and nothing to say great! Getting a family visa ( if you work for pvt sector) is a difficult thing. There is no life here and it’s expensive than UAE, right from vegetables to everything. The only thing which I found cheaper here is Quboos (QR 1) because there is a subsidy for flour. Sincerely, think 10000 times before u move here.

You don’t even save anything here. Even you can’t change your jobs here because 99.99%, you will be banned from entering the country, not for 6 months, for 2 years. Don’t get overwhelmed about what people say about Qatar. Yes, Qatar is what Dubai was 15-20 years ago and if you think that your life style, opportunities will be better here, you are wrong.

even if you get 75% of what they offered you in UAE- Stay there!!!!!!!!All the very best ! check with people who moved....

I was there in UAE for 3 years before I came to Doha, If u wanna ur life to be enjoyable, stay in UAE.

Furthermore, Doha is comparitively equall to AUH in the House Rent, Home need and everything.

Taking your car is not a big deal...You can easily bring here..:-)

The rent of a 2 bed room hous will be about 5 to 6 K, and cost of living is more or less similar to AD, as i have also lived in AD for 5 years. This place is good and fast growing country and they have similar restrictions like AD but not as free as Dubai. I am sure you will love the life in Doha-God bless

On another note, would I be better purchasing a car here and driving it over, I believe I can use it there for six months without registering it that side on UAE plates and insurance.

Has anyone done this, not sure how easy/hard it is to drive through the Saudi border and then on to Qatar....

My wife would stay here for a few months until I have certainty of my job that side, so it would be no problem bringing the car back to export...
