if a housemaid runs away, how can the family replace her with a new one?

My friend's housemaid ran away, she stayed with them for 20 months.
They are very worried for her, as they know she will end up getting in trouble.
They also have a big house and 2 kids and a pet and they work , so they really need a full time help ASAP.
How could this be done? through legal and security procedures I mean? Must they wait for the police to find her (if they do) to cancel her RP before applying for another maid? or can they cancel her RP immidiately?

So its ok to hold someone's passport per terms of employment? Sounds kind of fishy from the beginning.

You can have a copy, but never my passport which instantly provides legal citizenship protection at the embassy.

Maids run away for many reasons - your maid obviously had her reasons - not worth dwelling on.

Assuming that you have her passport, you need to go to the CEID and report her as having run away. You will have to leave her passport with CEID, but they will cancel her visa immediately and provide you with a certificate confirming that she has run away and that the visa is cancelled. With that you will be able to apply for a visa for a new maid.

I would also strongly suggest that you visit the Embassy for her country and file a report with them as well - many maids always return to their Embassy's claiming destitution, bad treatment etc etc. DO NOT ler her defame you if you have treated her with respect and treated her propperly so go through this process immediately - dont delay as it will look bad on you.

Unfortunately i have been through this. Our maid absconded to be with her boyfriend, who apparently had his 'wicked way' with her then left the country for good. She then went to her Embassy claiming that we ill treated her, BUT fortunately for us she had previously told the agency that we employed her through that we were the best family she has worked for! And then she asked the Embassy to mediate and convince us to take her back (which we didnt because the trust broke down)!!!

Good luck, move forward quickly!

tinkerbell...

I'm sure she had her reasons, she is a great mother and wants, by all means, to have a higher income for her family's sake but we are worried because she knows absolutely no one here, no family... and her friends have no idea that she left.

so, if they give her passport to CID, can they recruit a housemaid right away or should they wait for the police to find her and deport her first?
