Dubai: A wheelchair-bound Bangladeshi suspect and his compatriot on Sunday denied sexually exploiting two teenage girls and forcing them to have sex with men in a garbage room.

The 42-year-old wheelchair-bound suspect, M.M., who according to prosecution records injured himself after jumping off a second-storey flat during a police raid, denied charges of human trafficking and raping one of the teenage girls before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

His alleged accomplice, 28-year-old M.R., pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexual exploitation, defending himself before Presiding Judge Fahmi Mounir Fahmi.

Prosecutors charged M.M. and M.R. with sexually exploiting their compatriot girls, B.A. and C.F., and forcing them into prostitution.

According to the charge sheet, the defendants promised the girls they would be working as housemaids, but instead forced them to have sex with strange men for money. They were also accused of beating the girls and locking them up.

M.M. was solely charged with raping C.F.

M.M., in the dock of courtroom four, said: “Sir I am not guilty. I didn’t force any of the girls into prostitution. I was broke and I worked in prostitution to earn my living. The girls were not coerced or forced to have sex with men against their will — they did so willingly. And I deny the charge of raping C.F.”

M.R. also denied the charges against him. Presiding Judge Fahmi adjourned the case until May 15 to hear the statements of B.A. and C.F., who are currently living at the Dubai Women and Children Foundation.

Police called

An Omani police corporal testified that he was called to Hor Al Anz after reports of a crime.

“A pedestrian had restrained M.R. because 17-year-old B.A. claimed to him that she was being forced into prostitution,” the corporal said. “The pedestrian claimed to me that when the two [M.R. and B.A.] went out from a taxi, the girl ran to him and asked him for help.

“I detained M.R. who was scared. When I confronted M.R., firstly he alleged that he was a watchman then he claimed that he was a sex client.
“Meanwhile B.A. claimed that M.R. and others had been forcing her and C.F. into prostitution in two different places. B.A., who was crying in fear, claimed that C.F. was locked up in one of the places.

“I rushed to the building where C.F. was detained in a garbage room. We broke down the door and saved her. Condoms and lubricants were seized from the room, which contained a curtain that separated two beds.”

Apparently women nearby couldn't understand why their husbands were suddenly keen to take the garbage out every day. Sometimes twice a day.

Why did they call Omani police in Hor Al Anz...

Anyway prostitution is illegal in UAE but conveniently ignored most of the times by the authorities.

its a shame... here is what CIA has to say about Bangladesh and human trafficking issues:

"Bangladesh is placed on Tier 2 Watch List because it does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so, including some progress in addressing sex trafficking; the government did not demonstrate sufficient progress in criminally prosecuting and convicting labor trafficking offenders, particularly those responsible for the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers for the purpose of labor trafficking (2009)"

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/bg.html

other than human trafficking... Bangladesh is popularly used as a hub for smuggling illicit drugs...

leaves me with few question... is prostitution legal in Dubai...?

can Dubai govt authorities not take enough measures to at least avoid this from happening in their ... small but highly developed country..?

if sponsorship law and exit permit thing gets abolished.. will Qatar breed such culprits too?

I think it's a significant market sector, Rizks. I wonder, when the government taxes these activities.

If he can say that he'd "worked in prostitution", it sounds as if prostitution was legal in the U.A.E. That's cool.

So he admits to being a pimp? Lock him up anyway.

There are simular cases in the UAE papers everyday. Human trafficking is a big issue here, but at least it's being addressed to some extent. The same stuff is happening in Qatar but you never here about it.

More like inhuman barbarians with hearts of demons.. Subhanallah! All this for what? Money? Power? Frightening! My heart goes out to the poor girls. Its a natural feeling among many that they trust/feel more at ease with their own compatriots to other nationalities and here's a case where one's own compatriot betrays them. So sorrowful. I hope these sickos get what they deserve!

"How can people be so cruel" ?

Look around you. Human trafficking is a bane all over the world..

There was a cas a few years ago in Saudi, where a Bangladeshi maid - running away from her abusive employer - asked for help from a compatriot Taxi driver to take her to the Embassy.

He obligingly took her to a villa, where she was held captive and prostituted for a week before the authorities got suspicious and raided the place.

Man's inhumanity to man :O(
