qatar denies any allegations against in the todays newspaper, & there's no chance of taking Fifa cup back from the state, as itself bears some value & is not a joke!

Las Vegas,

So for you, exposing corruption is sour grapes? And because the US and UK are at war, corruption cannot be exposed?!

Amazing logical chain of thoughts, specially from a “LasVegas”!

By Las Vegas• 24 May 2011 13:05
Las Vegas

I see lots of sour grapes around here.

USA and UK, what a joke, no corruption but killing 0.5 million Iraqis for a false claim of WMD is ok and forgotten, sure there is no corruption but taking the whole other country wealth is fine.

Go Qatar kick some butt, show the azzholes who make their money here and speak bad of you before any allegations are proven.

The weather, the culture, the national team’s fifa ranking, the country’s size, its infrastructures.... and so many other issues that all backs up the bribe allegations.

The sad world of greed we live in!

I knew I was right, Austraila was voted out the first round: If Qatar is stripped, it should go to the U.S.

2022 FIFA World Cup™

Round 1: Australia 1 vote, Japan 3 votes, Korea Republic 4 votes, Qatar 11 votes, USA 3 votes (Australia eliminated)

Round 2: Japan 2 votes, Korea Republic 5 votes, Qatar 10 votes and USA 5 votes (Japan eliminated)

Round 3: Korea Republic 5 votes, Qatar 11 votes, USA 6 votes (Korea Republic eliminated)

Round 4: Qatar 14 votes and USA 8 votes (Qatar obtained an absolute majority)

so Qatar is proven to bribe Fifa but let Qatar off and punish the corrupt officials? Get real mate, Qatar gets caught they get stripped of the event and the Fifa officials get whats coming to them....

Instead of thinking to strip off qatar from 2022 World cup i think if there are any misconduct in award FIFA should have to correct them self. They should have to fire these guys and try to not repeat such off the track routes for future but they should have to realise of not thinking about FIFA 2022 shifting now its with QATAR

You should ask yourself why you are there.

@ Minoush Aus had the second highest votes and those votes weren't bought.

I agree with B2D it is a huge country. But I think if Aus won the bid all the games could be held in Sydney alone. We did have the 2000 olympics just in Sydney. As there are enough venues to hold multiple games each day. But for the sake of variety it could be spread out between Sydney and Melbourne. Which is only a 40 min plane ride.

@romelsingapore OZ have never had the WC, they have had the 2000 Olympics, 2003 Rugby WC and the 1992 Cricket WC but never the Football WC. Just because Qatar have the $$$$ isn't enough reason to give them the event

By Minoush• 22 May 2011 14:34

Are people forgetting that Oz only got 1 vote? Wouldn't the default victor be the U.S. since they got the second highest votes?

By romelsingapore• 22 May 2011 14:31

European countries have had their chances, everyone should be given a chance. Australia and OZ have experienced it, Qatar has the financial capability and should be given a fair chance.

The only issue I have with Oz is the huge distances. South Africa was bad enough for traveling fans, but imagine one match in Perth then the next in Melbourne!!!

I read it yesterday in an online newspaper that there is a possibility for a revoting as the allegation came out in Sunday Times regarding the bribery of two FIFA Officials with 1.5 million dollars each to vote in favour of Qatar.

However it is still an allegation which is being investigated before the Presidential Election of FIFA.

Ya aus deserve it actually. Alfazaa and other police department will ruin the world cup.lols

Raven1968

@MYSTIQ_SOUL I think most people were hoping Oz would win it, you have the history of hosting big events, have a great infrastructure with plenty of tourist things to do, oh and a great sporting culture, Qatar has NONE of these, no question they bought the WC....they have nothing else to bring to the table other than the petro $$$$

Australia should have won the bid. We have the infrastructure and the experience to pull off an event like the WC. It's been proven in the past by the 2000 Olympics, The cricket WC, Commonwealth games and various other smaller tournaments. Not to mention we actually have a team that plays in the WC. Something Qatar does not!!

Also what would the people do in-between games?? Really there is no entertainment here. Nothing to do or see or places to go to. Wheres Aus actually has everything to offer for a great WC and holiday. Not to mention our friendly sport crazy people, multicultural society, great beaches, world class venues, clubs pubs bars, fantastic weather, great food and wine. The list goes on and on so there should definitely be a re-vote and it should go to Aus :)

@roulasam...from Baldricks map New Zealand 9.3, Qatar 7.7, therefore Qatar more corrupt than New Zealand, your comment blown out of the water

To the OP:

"Qatar may be stripped of 2022 World Cup

is this true??"

I say again, yes it's true that they may be stripped of the WC ... IF the allegations are confirmed.

To roulasam: If you believe there is NO corruption in Qatar then you are seriously deluded.

@roulasam well shows what you know, New Zealand is one of the least corrupt places to do business....Qatar bought the WC, now they are getting found out....

We will know if the rumors are true of false in less than 2 weeks. FIFA has pledged to get to the bottom of this scandal prior to the Presidency vote on June 1.

Stories like this don't just appear from nowhere.

Just because your country is full of corruption it doesn't mean you can say that every place you live at is corrupted.

To all of you here, Qatar earned the votes cuz they are worth of having it. They had a wonderful presentation to FIFA, Qatar competed and earned it.

There is no corruption in Qatar whatsoever. Just because it is the only blooming country in the GCC, it doesn't mean that it has corruption. Before accusing and spreading rumors, check your sources.

By Raven1968• 22 May 2011 13:27

the thing that worries me is that Qatar can't even organise a piss ant little tourney like the Asian Champs without stuffing it big time....just imagine the shambles they would make of the WC....

I for one would love to see this country get stripped of it if it is proven they paid money for votes. Other countries already have the infrastructure, the security, and transportation to pull this off. Granted, 2022 is way down the road, and Qatar may very well pull off one of the biggest construction efforts the world has seen yet. But I certainly don't see it happening. The Asian Cup was outrageous. I purchased tickets for myself and 4 other friends to go. We couldn't even get in. They gave our seats away. I hope the allegations are not true. I hope Qatar is found to be innocent of this and can move on. I would love to see if what they presented to FIFA can actually be accomplished. But as stated before. If it is proven that they paid for votes, then strip them of their bid and lets have another vote.

Corruption is penetrated in Qataris and its under cover by the huge ammount of money flow, so most of the people think its very neat and clean society BUT Infact Corruption is at its peak in Qatar

So no Doubt the allegations could be True

But this Issue must be properly investigated and serious action should be taken against the culprits.

i raise hand for corruption free society!!!
