kabayans please help me...i came here first on tourist visit visa, it expires and i need to exit bahrain and get a business visa valid for 3 months but renewwable. i got it from gulf paradise hotel, now the cost of renew every month is 1000QAR...so before it expires again to renew for a month i decided to grab the opportunity to have a job, eventough the job is not that promising, only 2500QAR no accomodation and no transpo, just to save me from paying 1000QAR on renewing my visa.....now heres where my problem starts....this company, when i completed my requirements for me to have a work visa, told me that i will start to work once the visa is released..it was released after 5 days...a work visit visa valid for 5 years with a proffesion of electrical technician. now that was on the 1st week of may...now it has been almost a month of not having any work, not having any medical or finger printing...so i decided to look for a job and finally landed on the job that suits my qualifications...now i told the new company about my situation and they told me that since im not having medical and finger printing, they can transfer my visa to them...all i need is an NOC on my company who provide the work visa...now the company is not giving me an NOC...they said that if im going to work into another company and since i dont have a IQAMA/PATAKA...they will cancel my visa.....does it mean i need to exit qatar??? and does it mean i will be ban here for 2 years??? how can i work here if i will be ban?? please kabayans help...i didnt know what to do anymore....this is my first time here in doha and my first time to go out in philippines....i do hope someone can enlighten me and give me some good tips on how i can cope with this...thanks

Your analysis is well descriptive and completly straight forward. I hope you did not shake his sencitivity levels too much, Let all hope he will heed to the advise you gave him.

Are you sure you are not a Mutant?

comes only if there is sun after the rain, nonetheless if its night it will never happen.... just kidding...

false hope comes only with promises but, advise is something you can decide with....

Just like what they say.. in or out! exit or stay with your present job. Next time before making decisions better think more than 200times and bear in mind the consequences that will occur along your way especially when its illegal. I know how difficult your situations right now just be strong and always think positive.. God never promise us a good life on earth..but He gave the assurance that there will always be a rainbow after the rain. Good luck.

you're asking for help? you must be joking. no one can help you in your situation right now. your only option is to go back home. sorry my friend tough luck :-(

but hey believe in the saying that when one door closes, another one opens...so dont lose hope i know you have that pinoy spirit in you... 'no guts no glory'.

is never ending issue anywhere not only here in Qatar. And how can we blame them for doing this, people will do anything just to feed an empty stomach, who doesn't? The thing is it should be done more calculatedly than rests the fate in luck. If I were you work for 2 years, there maybe opportunities coming in within this time and who knows you might earn your NOC by then.

Best of luck to you Pasador.

Thanks.

I was just giving him the reality not false hopes.

I believe he should just get out and learn from this experience.

this is the reason why i always say NO to my relatives asking me for a visit visa. i don't want to be blamed afterwards.

may you solve your problem intelligently and for the goodness of your family.

And they will still continue to do it...and we will see many more posts like this on QL...and they will continue to blame others for their misfortune...albeit all is caused by THEMSELVES.

This is what happens if you circumvent, cheat and lie.

Treysdad. If it were up to me you'd get 50 points just for that answer alone. Well done.

As I said way up there : Pasador - you got yourself into this mess. You need to get yourself out of it.

But please, when you do, be sure to tell your kabayan what to expect if they come here on empty promises. Qatar can be the land of plenty, but only if you go about it in the right way.

1.i came here first on tourist visit visa, it expires and i need to exit bahrain get a business visa valid for 3 months but renewwable. i got it from gulf paradise hotel,

- Actually this is where your problem started, the moment you bought a business visa. Buying and selling of visa is illegal in Qatar. It does not matter whether others did it and are now successful in Qatar. This process is still illegal.

2. now the cost of renew every month is 1000QAR...

- This is because it is illegal. They are making a business out of the business visa. The Ministry only charges QR200 for each month of renewal. (BTW. You have just exposed the hotel because of this post).

3. so before it expires again to renew for a month i decided to grab the opportunity to have a job, eventough the job is not that promising, only 2500QAR no accomodation and no transpo, just to save me from paying 1000QAR on renewing my visa.....

- Now this is where the "sh*t hits the fan" as they say. You should have known the implications of signing a work contract with any company here.

4. now heres where my problem starts....this company, when i completed my requirements for me to have a work visa, told me that i will start to work once the visa is released..it was released after 5 days...a work visit visa valid for 5 years with a proffesion of electrical technician.

- You have a work visa from 'this company'. This means 'this company' is your sponsor now.

5. now that was on the 1st week of may...now it has been almost a month of not having any work, not having any medical or finger printing...so i decided to look for a job and finally landed on the job that suits my qualifications...now i told the new company about my situation and they told me that since im not having medical and finger printing, they can transfer my visa to them...all i need is an NOC on my company who provide the work visa...now the company is not giving me an NOC...

- Giving the NOC is 'this company' prerogative.

6. they said that if im going to work into another company and since i dont have a IQAMA/PATAKA...they will cancel my visa.....

- Being your sponsor, yes, they can do that.

7. does it mean i need to exit qatar??? YES

8. and does it mean i will be ban here for 2 years??? YES

9. how can i work here if i will be ban?? Wait for the 2 years or better yet try another place.

10. please kabayans help...i didnt know what to do anymore....this is my first time here in doha and my first time to go out in philippines....i do hope someone can enlighten me and give me some good tips on how i can cope with this...thanks

3 options:

1. Better count your losses and get out. OR

2. you can stay and work for 'this company' OR

3. you can ask them nicely to give you an NOC.

hotly discussed before and so many are still encouraging to try their luck. People need to learn the hard way! And voicing discouragement earned me the ire of many "good" people here specially among a certain group! ANd yet, when problem arise, where are they?

If you get hired locally and you did not paid your POE fees in the Phillipines for changing companies, your own government will ban you from leaving the Phillipines until you paid everything due to the POE. aNYHOW YOU ARE SCREW EITHER WAY!

if u didn't make the medical and finger print then you don't require NOC from the first company,

just go to bahrain or anywhere else and come back by the new visa from the last company,

good luck

nomerci is right there are lot of people who are victimized and abused because of this process in your situation it is difficult to transfer in other company if they will not provide NOC its there discretion, now if your planning to go home in your country what is the assurance that the new company will issue you a working visa? because its a lot of process and it will cost a lot time and money to them not like if they will hire people who are here already so its your choice. Goodluck

kabayan literally mean of same country. and we do share one country now... Mr Pasador, too many expats has been "victimized" already. do post in the filipino column or check old posts i remember reading something similar to your case. May God be with you!

pasador, this is exactly why yu are NOT supposed to come on a tourist visa and look for work.

You are supposed to come here AFTEr you have been provided with a job here.

The way you, and sadly so many others do it, leaves you wide open to abuse and problems...as you are facing now.

I hope your fellow "kabayans" read this and finally stop doing this.
