we discourage those travelling here just to scout for a job (at least my own "kabayans"). Like your case, the uncertainties is sometimes frustrating and may forced others to accept anything just to get a job even to the extent of being exploited by local companies.

Thanks sa165, you are right, it is all about setting my expectations. However, things sometimes go out of control and you find yourself did the wrong step. Life and system in Doha is totally different from Canada and Europe, weather wise, culture and weird employment system are the main reasons for getting into stuff like the one you and I mentioned. Anyway, think can be totally easier if you have everything settled from before and you only come and take the key...

Greetings.

I guess it comes all to "setting your expectations right"... I am not in Doha yet. My husband landed few days ago and he is finding everything different from home...think about why you are there in the first place then you'll see the positive things... good luck

Vivme, your suggesting is considerable, but however it needs lot of things to be done. This can come later once I settle myself and build a name. This can't be done for sure immediately.

XXC thanks for your sympathy :)

Jumping from the first world into a third world country must have really got your brains wondering what you have got yourself into and that must be bothering you more then the job itself.

haha good one Flor, Stop comparing it will make your life miserable, be happy where you are and accept the culture and people around you, happiness is still a choice...

....Embrace everything different about the Middle East!

Its not home, its not like home, its different but it can be great! As with any new country you only get out of it what you put in! Make the most of the time you have here enjoying everything you cant do when you leave the desert

Expect to be homesick, but know that it does pass, just continue to stick out your hand and say hello and I promise youll meet people you would never get to know back home.

Dear all,

Thanks for your questions,

Actually it has to do with lot of things, first time you come here, you feel the homesickness especially when I see the pictures home. I do have the feeling that I am gonna throw out.

Second, is about the concept of life here, it is totally different than I use to experience in my country (Germany), i believe many of you know what I mean.

3rd, of course job, I came hoping to start something without to fall in the boring daily life here. There is not much to do except go out in the evening to the cafe, sitting with all the liars and hear their pathetic stories and silly adventures. It is kind of weird to jump from a world to another.

Hope to find sooner as I am going to feel really sad, that is what I DON'T want to feel...

That is why I said I am disappointed.

There is more to life then work. Be patient and positive and a job will surely come by if not now then atleast after the summer is over. I understand Flor is going to find a job for you and hopefully soon.
