Hello everyone,
straight question: what is reasonable for a western woman to wear casually in public in Qatar, for example in a shopping centre... jeans & tee shirt?? long sleeved shirt? sandals or closed shoes? what is not accepted? all advice appreciated
cheers!!
Nice information, many thanks to the author. It is incomprehensible to me now, but in general, the usefulness and significance is overwhelming. Thanks again and good luck!Online Clothes Shopping Australia
i think you can wear any type of clothes as long as there's still respect for islamic culture. avoid short pants, spaghetti strap tops, tight fitting leggings exposing the curves of hips, butt and front.
You're right. Some Lungis should be outlawed.. I remember walking on a beach in a GCC country (not Qatar) and a couple of guys coming in the opposite direction.. Oblivious to those around, they suddenly opened their Lungis in unison to give them some fresh air and re-tied them all in one movement :o(
:))
done...whats next???
JohnnyBravo You've to believe it :)
I have never seen a saree in which the waist line and tummy are not visible. not even in pakistani serials now a days, let alone Indian serials\movies (in india it is considered as a norm)
Doha Knight We use to wear saris without showing waist line and tummy.
let us meet to see your face then i can juadje ur chinese or thai or pinoy or Korean or Malsyian or ............................................
People when they see asian ladies, they usually conclude them as "filipinas". Even when people see me they think i'm chinese or a thai lady. So i guess it's not that ok to specify "filipinas" when it comes to seeing women in malls wearing clothes like that. Many nationalities are wearing the same even.
Britexpat you must have seen men wearing lungis in there, thats still exposure right?
Just not the kind you were hoping for
Sorry to see my humble post in this thread eliminated. I am wondering why...:(
britey, was just responding to reasonforsmile comment of specifying "filipinas" wearing skin tight clothes on mall..i mean lots of different nationalities are wearing clothes like that..not only us..
Which malls are these exactly ? I was in Safari Mall last night and didn't see any :O(
i think not only filipinas..there's lot of asian women and even western women wandering in malls in skin tight clothes..there's nothing wrong as long as you're not exposing too much skin or wear it in a very provocative manner..
Avoid tooo short dresses although u can see so many filipinas wondering in skin tight clothes in malls as a treat for eyes with great body shapes...jsut avoid bikinis or too short shorts.....
Yeah u can wear a 'sari' but a covered one.....by the way how about a SKIN TIGHT fashionable silky fitting Abaya?is this reasonable?
Brit, in India, many ladies wear the 'sari' which actually exposes a wide band of their skin all around above their belly-button. In India its the national dress for ladies. I was wondering if wearing a sari would be considered exposing too much skin in this Islamic country.
Any dress of your choice which covers your body below the neck to the ankle :P
This is an Islamic country. Dress more on the conservative side. try not to wear shorts or sleeveless tops..
there is no such dress code here in qatar . but just dont go to the extreme
