A phony story about a dead baby got two women plenty of sympathy and more than $600. But it also earned them a number of criminal charges.

Tiffany Lyon and Chasity Doll had been standing on busy corners on Saturday with a sign asking for "Funeral Donations" for a child named Justin Michael Farrell.

The women allegedly stated that the baby died from a heart condition while they were in Modesto on vacation on June 6.

After a call to the coroner confirmed that no baby named Justin Michael Ferrell had perished in the Modesto area, the women reportedly admitted the baby wasn't real and that the photo of a smiling child on their poster had been pulled off the internet.

Police plan to give the cash they raised to charity.

From what I heard its a very new and scary phenomena. SL Muslims, Haj bound, were warned about this since last year, so God knows how true it is. But I do know that there is deffo a rise in beggers around Saudi.

Are you sure this sort of thing also happens in Saudi? cuz I lived a considerable part of my life there and I  used to hear  some incidents  back towards the late 90’s a group criminal doctors  would kidnap young boys and girls and then remove their inside for organ business  but never in my many years in Saudi ( BTW i'm not  grandpa old! i'm only 16) ^_^! ok no lyin i'm not 16 but  i'm not that old either!)   did I hear  of such a thing! Kids being kinsdnapped and forced to beg. It’s just not possible it’s like saying kids in Qatar   are being kidnapped and forced to beg on the streets which it was true would have been very obvious for everybody to see.

They do that in Saudi too...in fact we Muslims are warned to be very careful when making Haj that either we don't bring our kids or have them on a leash as kidnappers are on the prowl...kids are kidnapped, then disabled and forced to beg..Audubillah! Yes its sickening the demonic acts some people do to make a buck...nothing is sacred to them!

In India they cripple and disable and gouge out children’s eyes to make them in to street beggars I have seen this with my own eyes while touring India
