Baby outside in heat
Today, while sitting in my home, I heard a baby crying outside, at first I didn't pay any attention just thinking it was in one of my neighbors' homes. Then I realzed how loud it sounded and looked out my window and lo and behold there was a baby no older than 10months old outside on the ground (in a walker) in the heat and sun with two maids busy working outside.! The baby was out for sometime and was crying quite a bit.
I thought I would certainly go in the evening and tell the parents what I saw, but...after watching the baby for a bit longer a third lady emerged (from the kitchen in the servant quarters) not sure if this was another maid or mother of the child because once she came out one of the maids finally took the baby inside, she was also a different ethnicity than the other two maids.
Maybe I am over-reacting, but I can't imagine any child, adult, and particularly an infant being left in the heat in July in Doha. Don't want to get in the people's business either especially if the parents are well aware. But it just seems so harmful to the child's well-being, or maybe I am just not accustomed to the heat and making a big deal out of nothing.
The Qatari Journal of Medicine recently reported that early tanners hold their tan for longer.
poor baby... i really hate when i see some parents especially their maids leaving their child/baby alone. I know they also have some works to do. but arent they aware that they must prioritize those child/baby first. they must know how to prioritize what is important first. like some maids, i see a lot of maids that are only chatting. they were not paid just to chat to each other. they are paid to watch and takecare of those child/baby.sorry for my grammar.
I think you should tell the parents. The worst that can happen is they tell you to mind your own business. At least your conscience will be clear.
If something happens and you kept silent, you'll punish yourself later.
A small baby like that has a high surface area to volume and can overheat in minutes if in direct sunlight.
if i was at your place, i would have asked the Maids to look up in the sky and when the looked up i would throw some Red chilly powder in their noses...:)
not ur business but on the humanitarian ground you could have gone and asked ? :)
but is it my business to do so if the child's mother is there?
might be they bought the baby out for tanning ?you might have gone and asked the maids why they hav left the baby out like tat ?
