Ashghal

This is about Ashghal also known as the Public Works Authority; a message to all those that may consider working for Ashghal as there have been many internal rifts and internal political unrests.

I would advise to those employed to consider an alternative if an opportunity arises, otherwise you may be in the firing line without any remorse from the Management.

If you are considering working for such an organisation I would think twice before signing a contract with them.

As an old employee I think it is important that people know about Ashghal. Saldy the staff are so scared they just put up with the incompetant Management skills.

Would be good to hear from Ashghal staff.

Veera77. Fyi, Ashghal is tendering out 6 Major contracts which are currently being assessed etc. All work will be out sourced and my main worry was what would existing staff do, as hundres are being employed. Sooner or later staff will b laid off as the work will be done privately.

Your contract is 1 year only, but they can lay you off if they like...

Im only making people aware as Ive seen staff suffer and it's NOT right for people to leave their home countries & family sometimes and then come into this headache and ill managed organisation.

I wont be making any QR on this but preventing people from suffering. Nothing else.

Like I said there are people in there who keep their heads down & stay out of sight from the managers.

I have nothing against Ashghal. Its the management or lack of. Take for example a friend of mine his father in law passed away and he wasnt given an exit permit as he was in his 3mths probation period. The Dept who dealt with it managed the incident without due care and attention to the needs of the staff.

For those nupties who think Ive got somthing against Ashghal are not in a position to speak. Ive been there and had the experience, and got inside 1st hand experiance. As for those rabbiting the've no clue.

Faisal tower, near city center is where the headache is, not the Salwa Rd offices. So O&M should be ok.

Politics seems to be name of the game out here. Either you get along with them and watch the flow or just move on or get moved out.  Well  you dont have to blame the  locals every time for this  things which is done on a much larger and sickening scale by the other asians out here who try to fill the organization with their own people while trying to get rid of other workers in the name of recession and lack of new busines while their bigger bosses are busy enjoying the good things that Qatar has to offer

There should be a forum listing of organsiations where you can NAME & SHAME such inidviduals and companies, in order for people to make a change and make others aware.

Don't get me wrong, the work done there and some of the staff / Managers are excellent...But not the majority.

Yes, politics is everywhere, but things get personal and anyone not Qatari gets it, hard!

How many Qatari's come to work on time, rarely, yet they leave early, lol. But no one as the courage to set it straight and apply fairness and justice all round.

One of the main problems is that the Qatari management team are not capable of handling their work load or responsibilities.

I was told by their learning skills expert Mrs. Blacklaws that Management are given so much budget yet the Qatari Managers don’t know how to handle or manage the works. Leading on from this is then the obvious; frustration and blame game.

And no I did not get fired, rather I left as I can't work with such low level attitude management unskilled personnel. You cannot work to your best as you are too busy spoon feeding your boss on the basics.

I've moved back to South Africa, but travelling around doing other work.
