Shameful acts
By Straight Arrow •
Many of us had faced or saw shameful acts which we do not like to see, these acts could have taken place at work place or in shopping malls or in the area near your home,...etc.
If you have seen an act which you think it is shameful please write it and say why you think it is shameful and what ideally should be done and I also would like to see if others agree with it or no.
The purpose of this forum will be to minimize these shameful acts and maximize the good acts.
SA, I wouldn't bring in these two things together. Use of condom is independent of the sense of loyalty between partners. Again, I will say, transgressions should be treated in the correct frame of reference and background. To me, each case would be different viewing the background and their relationship status. In many countries or regions for some oppressed loveless wives, its not easy to divorce their husbands due to social or financial security. In such a condition, her transgressions shouldn't be seen in the same light as one who changes partners for the thrill of it.
People must use their brain first and analyze, the usage of brain is very crucial to over come the different challenges we might face in our life. A political person must not be hypocrite and use the correct word at the correct time.
One of the funny things which some people said here in QL is that the usage of condom provides safe sex, but people are not alarms which never forget, so I think it is better to be loyal to your partner and never have sex before marriage ( This is my opinion).
A simple question why some people decide to take a path which has a risk or a slight risk and not take a safe path which is easily available?
SA, we know from our sense of justice that many of the things you have mentioned are harmful for the long term peace and happiness of the societies and thats the reason they are considered illegal, immoral or both.
But, the definition of each needs to be understood first. Without a reference frame, degree and background, all these words find no real meaning.
This is proof that we are all doomed.. :)
Is bad.
I guess people need a universal laws to organize their life.
So you agree that justice and equality is the solution for today's world problems.
I guess that equality does not contradict with natural.
Do you agree that the terms justice, fair, honesty, loyalty, ....etc should be universal?
Doha Knight how about if say no for the followings:
1. Adultery
2. Lie
3. Selfishness
4. Science has explanation for every thing
5. Prostitution
6. Bribes
7. Cheating
8. Hypocritical behavior
9. Bashing words
10. Being shallow minded
Do you also agree that a controlled and organized ownership will makes people life better?
Do you like the which respects you as human who has rights or a culture which ignores your rights?
What is the definition of a good culture?
The society will be happy if and only if justice and equality prevails in it. Man of normal intelligence is born with the sense of justice. But, some odd traditions and dogmas may deny justice to one section of the society..like, slavery, system of bonded labour, polygamy but not polyandry, unequal wages, social discrimination on the basis of colour, caste or creed and sex, oppression against women and poor, forceful conversions etc.
Anything which is against universal justice is shameful.
its a confusion so just wanted to knw this
A wrong culture
Is the concept of ownership is a good thing?
1. Pilgram would like a woman to steal your hubby from you?If no please say why?
2. Do you consider laws which ensure individual people have their ownership is good laws?
3. Do you think that there should be some laws to eliminate say for example abuse, drugs, ...etc?
Pappu_Pager read the post from the beginning and you will understand what Pilgram means.
i dnt undstand one thing u say peolple shd b allowed to do whtever dey want to den y u feel shamefull abt the lady wearing the veil and her hubby wearing a short
There communities were and are still peaceful SA. They have no issues arrising from things like theft, because they have no concept of ownership. It is arrogant to call an entire culture WRONG, just because you don't believe in it. Perhaps you should look up what arrogance means.
and this approves the following fixed facts
1. Different people have different thinking.
2. 22,000 yrs ago there was no peace because you said "they lived a very peaceful life, only having to worry about invasions from Southern tribes, who were looking for slaves. "
3. The concept which suits the majority is welcomed and there is an Arabic expression "Satisfying all is impossible" and another expression which says "Everyone view the people from his/her eye" and this means if some one is a good person will tend to think the people he/she face are good and if he/she is bad then he/she will the people he/she face are bad.
4. People are free to choose what suits them based on their knowledge and understanding.
5. You said if I am not hurting others by my actions I should be left alone.
You say this is an pen forum and if you wrote something to promote some idea or concept and some people find it strange and reply to you with oppposite idea why do you consider this is Arrogance
Look up Inuit and Innu tribes SA. I know people who live in Iqualuit with them, and say that, until they get their hands on alcohol (which they never previously had until Canada was colonized) they lived a very peaceful life, only having to worry about invasions from Southern tribes, who were looking for slaves. Considering that your questions are the least clear things on QL, and are dripping with your opinions, I don't think that I'm the "unclear" one here, but here's your answers.1) no I dont' think there is a concept that will work for every single person on the planet to make their life better. Someone will always have a worse life because of someone elses concept.2) No, people are free to have their own opinions and live their own lives. But if you're going to go on a public forum and state your opinions and try to get everyone else to agree with you, I'm going to disagree with you if you if I disagree with your opinions.3) Not at all, but I believe everyone should mind their own business and not force their opinions on others or believe that their way is the right way.4) I want a culture that allows me to live my life freely, without judgement or condemnation. If I'm not hurting others by my actions I should be left alone. What someone else thinks might be a better life for me, might not be what I agree with. If I'm attacked or insulted for my beliefs, so be it, the person who attacked me is obviously incapable of respecting my beliefs.
there was peace and there was no fight between tribes?
See Pilgram I think you are not clear person and I guess almost every one here in QL knows that, I came to this conclusion because you do not answer simple clear questions and here are some of them:
1. Do you think that when there is a concept which makes people life better then it will be something good to have this concept?
2. Is it a must that other people should always agree with you only?
(From my side I say it is not necessary for all people to agree with me)
3. Is it necessary that what you think is right must be right for others?
4. Do you want a culture which has no limits so that you can be insulted at any time and attacked or a culture which respects you as a human being and protects you from diseases and ensures you have a better life?
Pappu I agree with absolutely nothing that SA says.
Wow. So a 20,000 year old culture that's lived in peace for that long is wrong. WOW. Your arrogance know's no bounds SA.
I thnk LP and Pilgram dey both agree to wht u say bt its the ego which is keeping dem away from accepting real things
Does not protect my properties and my rights then of course it is wrong culture, if there were no laws that organize people life then people life will be chaos.
1. Do you like some one to come and take your car or clothes? In other words i think you are person who want to say all for all , and this is the root cause of chaos.
2. Is it good to have concepts which makes life better or no concepts at all?
insulting , whom???
well said
And it would be the definition of whom? Why do I have to accept a definition of somebody else? I make my own definitions for your information. And therefore it becomes useless to discuss anything with you, since all you do is insulting and not worth responding.Have a nice Ramadan.
Now you have confirmed that your knowledge is very limited and I hope what you said in your last comment is true, oh sorry maybe you do not know also what is true, If it was true (my way of understanding true) then i think you really deserve sympathy and mental care and psychology treatment.
LLP don't you think that when people agree on some common and standard concept the life be better?
LLP simple analogies always better for understanding.
When people are organized and agree on common concepts which does not harm mankind then these people will be unique and earth will be good place to live.
Take your time LLP and buy a dictionary that gives you the definition of each I wrote above.
Well, obviously it's you who is the liar then, SA. I don't even know what a 'thing' is, or what 'good' is, unlike you!
Do you what's the difference between me and you? There are many differences and of the differences is that you have an answer for every thing and of course the person who says I know every thing is a liar.
When Muslims disagree with each other there is no problem if this difference is in the branches and not in the main roots.
Veil is not the heart of Islam and killing as well (honor killing).
It is natural that people have different opinions and some of them might share the same opinion.
At the end of the day there will be something which does not bring chaos to this world and the natural people will accept it.
LLP I am not sure if the language you are using in this post is English?
LLP do you agree that the absence of justice might cause trouble?
In regards to stealing, stealing was not a concept to Native North and South Americans before Westerners started to settle. It still isn't in Inuit communities. All food, clothing, homes, cars, etc. all belong to the people as a whole. There is also no concept of ownership in marriage, and men and women are free to live together as they please. Are you going to say that a 20,000 year old culture is wrong?
"A thing which does not harm you or harm others and at the dame time it helps you save your life and improves you or your life is called a good thing."What is harm? what you believe harms you might not harm me. What improves your life may not improve mine. Even Muslims can't all agree on the what is right or wrong, which is why you get honour killings, debates about the veil, debates about capital punishment, smoking, etc. Some people have no issues with affairs outside of marriage and in fact have happy, healthy open marriages, and raise happy healthy children (look at Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, they have an open marriage). I doubt you will even find a majority of people who will agree on the proper punishment for murder, or even if a crime can be classified as murder (which is why you rarely get unanimous juries).
I have witnessed people debating without mutual respect and using ones opinion as a reason to quarrel... <----------- shameful act.
SA, you use three words in your first sentence that are not clear. What does 'stealing' mean? What is 'good'? And what is a 'thing'? Okay, let me tell you: everything a person owns privately is stolen! Stealing is a common action from the beginning of time. The first kings or leaders stole land from the humans (with military force). Just because they were stronger and more brutal, they became the 'owners' of land. Later, it was 'sold', and there were new 'owners'. However, they bought 'stolen' land. So, legally they don't own it, just as you won't own a car that had been stolen before you bought it from somebody. As I said, stealing is a common action and sanctioned by governments, because they do it ALL THE TIME!What is 'good'? Nothing 'universal', for sure. It's an opinion. Or do you mean, it doesn't kill me, or it saves the human kind? Okay, but some people say, the human kind isn't worth being saved. So your definition of 'good' ONLY works, if the preservation of the human kind is the target. But this isn't a universal idea. It applies for some people, and it doesn't for others! And then a 'thing'. What is a thing? What do you mean? If I look at things I find that they are nothing. In the best case I would say they represent something and that can be read from fields or forces that are present when I experience that 'thing'. But I still don't know WHAT it is. I only know what it DOES.
is different from yours but I know that you have two legs, one heart, one brain, two hands, ....,etc.
These boys which 495 look similar in they way they were born but those 5 are different.
Wait it depends on !!
How?
If I am qualified and no company or place wants to take me, then what to do?
See your brother, sister, friend, gf, if you have.
If they say sorry I can not do any thing then there is no humanity.
A humanity thing would be get help from them or the country.
Another universal laws are here also LLP
Poverty is the main cause of problems such as drugs and killing.
Being fair let you be liked by the people who thinks naturally and logical.
Money can bring happiness in addition to other things if the money is used properly.
You use the word "identical" in the wrong way, SA. No two things can be identical! Simply because they cannot occupy the same spot in the space-time continuum. If you are at a certain place at a certain time, nobody else can be in that same place at the same time. Right? But time and space are not separable. Therefore, no two things can be identical! Being in a certain position at a certain time is part of the identity of an object!
The universal definitions and laws I meant by that is the common sense which many people agree on them.
When new borns are born what makes these new bornes grow identically?
for example if you look at class which have 30 boys, you might find that 28 boy has 10 fingers 5 on each hand and two boys might have 11 or 9 fingers of their hand in total, that means that 93.3 % of the boys are identical in the way they were born and if you take a bigger scale say a school with 500 boys for example and there 5 boys who have 11 fingers on their hand, one hand 5 and the other hand is 6, this means 99 % of the students are created identical.
shall I give more examples,
1. Driving the car careless most probably will cause to have an acciedent.
So driving safe reduces the risk of having acciednts and this can be considered as one of the universal defintions laws.
2. Eating healthy and doing some port activity helps to get healthier life.
LLP there are more which I can write but at the end we can help those who do not want to help them selves.
"There are universal definitions and laws whether you like it or not."This is the greatest bullshyte I have ever heard!
There are universal definitions and laws whether you like it or not, and of these definitions is
A thing which does not harm you or harm others and at the dame time it helps you save your life and improves you or your life is called a good thing.
"No two cultures can agree on what is wrong or right, and I doubt any two people could either." is wrong a wrong statement for example the Islamic culture or religion encourages marriage and prohobits relationships (affairs) out side marriage, and nowadays many organizations in USA fight to prevent affairs outside marriage, this is only one example.
you people are debating? :Ook carry on.. wish u best of luck
Ingeniro, who doesn't have a life? The person debating an issue or the person only posting to say "get a life." If you don't like what we're talking about, don't read it.
SA if you want to go around telling people not to step into traffic, or not to speed, or not to touch electrical wires with their bare hands, the more power to you. However if you are going to go and tell people that the way they are leading their lives is wrong, then you are way out of line. Wrong and Right are dependent on so many things that there is NO universal definition of it. No two cultures can agree on what is wrong or right, and I doubt any two people could either.
why u both just don't get a life??
1. Do you think there is something called common sense?
2. Do you think there are things which can be considered wrong and things which can be considered correct?
3. Are the people who want to delete the common sense the majority agree on are right?
My common sense gives me the right
SA who gives you the right to tell others what they are doing wrong? Who made you the judge of bad habits or "dangerous activities"? You're a man, not God, not Allah, not Buddah, not the Flying Sphaghetti monster. Haven't you ever heard the saying "people living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" perhaps you should take that as your motto.
Thanks LLP you gave a meaning of what is selfish.
A person who cares only about the people which he/she knows is not helping his/her community.
See guys in the ideal situation we can not interfere with what some families or people are doing in their home but we can express the dangerous of bad habbits or things which are done wrongly in forums and news papers.
A good act which is related to this is delivering the advantages and disadvantages of some things or habbits without insulting any one.
We must care about our community, but if there are upsets, then these upsets must not stop us from laughing and enjoying our life, on the other side we must have some feeling about those people who needs help and help them according to our ability which does not negatively impact us.
So what!?
sorry bt this is being selfish.
SA, I don't think about these people. I think about the people around me. I am not interested in the 6.5 billion other people! Let them do, live and die as they want!
LLP what do you think about the people who decide to live in fake and lie?
Saying the truth about your self is a good act
so, i can assume, Gays are not allowed in sports arena in ur west??? If so, then that is shamful !!
I did not say there is no truth, SA. I say: there are 6.5 billion truths! But only your truth is true. And that's how you generalize again.
some gay people can be shy and some may not be shy so where is the surprise?
A shameful act is when LLP divert questions and answer just to satisfy him self even if he is wrong, if LLP continue like this then I think he is living in fake, and I think LLP in more than one post he stated there is no truth, so no truth means fake life, fake life life means no objectives and targets in this life.
Sports Arena?
In the same sentence...... ROFLing.....
Can you explain LLP how does your sentence works?
continuosly praising himself = Bad Act :(
I gifted an "eye cover" to one of LP's mutilated eye = Good Act ! :)
"A good act is not to generalize.."That's already a generalization!
I have stopped commenting in the bashing threads = Good Act ! :)
so today we can start with the good acts again which many would like to see, so here we go
A good act is not to generalize the whole people in a certain country because you saw one strange guy.
Is that parents must and must plant the old good values and habits.
A good act to speak to people in a polite way if you see them did a wrong act.
qatar 2022........shameful.
Changing concepts of Shameful acts across regions and religions can be understood with the help of 'Dynamic Set Theory':-/
I find it worrying that the paradigm of 'shameful acts' is changing so fast that people nowadays don't consider acts shameful which the same society considered shameful just about a decade back. Social conditioning is taking over old moral values.
LP, I thought we were talking about a sports arena in the West.
They wouldn't 'stare', nomerci. They would glance, and they would get a glow in their eyes, and then they would say, 'damn, I cannot do what I want to do.' And then they would go to a bar and get drunk or drive like a maniac through the city streets.
John Lalay, but gay men would look....they would defo check out the woman's clothes....:)
Xena, the westerners in sports arena must be gays, so that don't bother to turn their heads.
ok, good acts. Here we go....one good act would, IMHO ,be to give people choices. To allow them to decide certain things, especially when it comes to faith and its obligations, for themselves. Without judging them in any way. That, IMHO, would be a good act.
Actually I think many people benifited from this post and Now let's put the good acts which you like to see and remember that this may not be accepted by others
u r on the top :)
I have witnessed many people imposing their opinion superior to others and expect to change other's viewpoint and insult when opposed <-------------- shameful act.
A personal opinion is a person property which no one can take.
You are free with your personal opinion but please remember not all people must have the same finger print or DNA.
SA your posts haven't changed in 2 years. You're still as narrow minded now.
you said:
"why is when being out in our own cultures/countries, dressed in the same fashion, western men don't do the same thing?"
I think they do not do so because they are saturated or used to see these things.
I consider staring at woman is bad if the man has a bad intension but if his eye only going here and there not focusing on her then there is nothing wrong.
two years back and as I said it is good to know what wrong things you have done and not repeat them.
EVERY (healthy) man turns his head when a woman comes along. It's built-in by nature. But some societies make it look 'wrong'. And that's when the trouble begins.
A sports areana full of western men - one women walks in and no one would even bother to turn around...
Now picture this....
A sports arena full of eastern men of various nationalities - one woman walks in and the place hushes to silence as all the men turn around and stare...
What SA and the others would have you believe is that females who dress without Niqab are set to be continuously hit on - if this is the case, why is when being out in our own cultures/countries, dressed in the same fashion, western men don't do the same thing?
I find it odd, that in a country where men should be casting their gazes to the ground - I feel more uncomfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, than I do in my own country in a swimming costume?
"It is a shame when some guys think that what is accepted for them must be accepted by others as well, I used to be one of these guys but not any more."Absolutely every single thing you post says differentely. You need to start reading your own posts.
To be more precise there is big difference between shameful acts and feeling a shame.
Shall I explain the difference between day and night?
Shameful acts are the acts which are not liked by the majority of people, feeling a shame is the feeling when you fail to do things which you are told to do by your boss.
A kid can feel a shame if his colleagues can dance in a dancing class he can not.
Feeling a shame is useful if it moves you to correct wrong things which you are doing, example not doing what your boss told you is a wrong thing, if your boss blamed you then ideally you should feel a shame and do what your boss tells you so you will not be blamed again.
People who success in this life are people who learn from their mistakes and not repeat the mistakes.
...
your thinking is your opinion.
It is a shame when some guys think that what is accepted for them must be accepted by others as well, I used to be one of these guys but not any more.
It is a shame when some people create fake definitions just to satisify their arguments even if their argument does not make sense.
Facts generates opinions and not vice versa.
Facts brings mind peace.
Shame on you, if you can't dance, too.
I don't know! ;)
There's no shame in admitting you have a drug problem SA. Which is the only explanation I kind think of for half your posts.
some people don't like to say I don't know if they do not the answer of some questions?
I think there is othing shame in saying I don't know do you agree guys?
Great.. at least some having fun... share some shameful acts you did :p
that one of the shameful acts is when you are in a meeting and you know something which bring advantage or risk and you do not say it in the meeting.
Also hiding the truth is a shameful act.
I just want to back to the whole middle aged man with young SE Asian thing that was mentioned earlier and the horror and shame of Middle aged stereo typical Western fat bald guys exploiting these naive, innocent SE Asian girls - can I just say, the situation is quite the reverse!!!!!!!
The exploitation that goes on typically goes in one direction only - these guys think with their d*cks and on occasion their hearts - these girls almost to a one think with their heads!! The initiator of this this particular topic in the issue of "shame" think it was MBK is naive in the extreme and the thinking that is being demonstrated is 1970s/80s thinking when yeah there was exploitation by Western guys over SE Asian girls - that isnt the case now and hasnt been for some considerable time. Anybody who thinks otherwise should check out internet cafes in Bangkok for instance where the naive innocent little thai girls are on a daily basis sending out volleys of e-mails to their "sponsors" declaring undying love and affection and the "oh, can you send me another $1000 my big heart because "my Muder sick, need opelashun..." Ruv u long time ........"
interesting to follow and read.....
wanna say something or dunno what to say???
~smile always~
i dont know wat to say ? :(Peace Guyz !
Pilgram if you are debating something and some one came to you and said the news paper or the researches which you are refering to did this because it is paid for them to do so for some reasons say governmental or religious, what will be your feeling?
Second question do you like some one to say that Pilgram said.............. and you actually did not say it?
there will be no problem
To be honest hundreds of shameful acts and thousands of good acts, I can say that good acts like a white dress and the shameful acts are like a mud which came on this white dress and sticked on the white dress so the white dress need to be cleaned and screened again so you get the whit dress again.
What world do you live in SA where you have to do research before you say something is a shame? :S Shame and feeling shame for someone is an emotion, there's no research involved.
^_^ im having fun reading this thread ^_^
I have witnessed huge changes in traditional Qatar for the convenience of very specific expats ... and yet their whining keeps flourishing.... <- shameful act.Family day at all Malls in Qatar does not apply to certain Bachelors <- shameful act.A female openly discussing her 'periods' with a male 'colleague' <- shameful act.I am getting paid for work and am QLing < - very shameful act
There is a difference between a fact and an opinion, opinion can be established from facts and not vice versa.
A shameful act is when you discuss with a person and you show him/her researches which are against his/her idea, he/she will say these are paid researches for certain purposes. What a shame!!
So basically anyone who doesn't agree with SA is shameful. Why didn't you just call this topic "Shameful things according to Straight Arrow" so everyone could have ignored it.
SA and ingeniero your way of explanation is really good keep it up.
But SA what you told about the king and the cave man is not a Story, it is fact and if I am not wrong it was a original scene between an Egyptian Imam who was blind and a king of that time who dnt blv in Allah.
Another shameful acts is the wrong teaching, and forcing people to do certain things contradicting with their belief and culture.
A shameful act is the wrong definition of culture and misleading people by lies and fake facts.
Pilgrim, I really hope that is the case. But mostly likely it is case of their circumstances. Just finished reading a book title "just thirteeen" written by a former Thai prostitute describe exactly why these men were there in her country and what they were looking for and why young women and even girls were lured to do these acts and it was purely because of poverty!
well in past i was, but since long time no class with you :(
i feel pity for the people who don't believe that God exist. alot of education even didn't made them to think in a proper way.there are alot of ways to take knowledge, do research.. we waste alot of time on stupid and not worthing searches on internet even, but we never get time to find out that is there any creature of this world? is there any real king of the world, who is ruling the entire universe?
ingenieroand i thought of U were ookhyaar :((
God is providing me/all alive ppl proof of his existance always.you just need to think about that, one simple question, surely you are working in some company here, is there any owner of the company? there are managers? who are supervising, maintaining every thing! looking after the company!then how can this world be with an owner? everything systematic? earth is completing one round arround the sun exactly in 365 days and 8 hours from thousands of year?why we can't increase our age limit to thousand years? why there is a limit of 7o-120 years? infact why you die? who is stopping the breath?there are thousands of examples, you just need to look arround, you will found alot of proofs for that, by closing you eyes, and you don't want to listen what others saying made u athiest.
Who challenged God?
Take the titanic ship for example, the Brazailian president, ...etc
This is a short story but nice, there was a man who worshiped God in the caves in one land, the king of this land was not allowing people to worship God and the king knew about this man in the cave, so the king went to the man and the man was praying so the king kicked the man, the man took a jur and throw it on the king hand, the king screamed, the man said to the king what do you want, the king said I have some questions for you
1. You say there is God if so , why do not see God?
2. You say there is fait, can you prove it?
The man said I will answer you in the court, in the court the king was there, the man said now I will answer you:
1. when threw the juror your hand you had pain right? The king said yes, the man said did you see the pain? The king said no
The man said so the man said pain exist but you do not see it
2. The man said to the king my fait and your fait is that We meet here in the court in this day.
The moral of this story it is not necessary to see things to prove they exist.
Another short story is that there was an atheist teacher telling the students that God does not exist because you don't see God, one student stood up and said teacher we don't see your brain so you are crazy you do not have brain.
A shameful act is to use bashing words when you are proven wrong and very good list by Doha night.
People call a girl fat. No one knows she has a serious disease causing her to be over weight. Absolutely Shameful!
People can google and look for what they want.
A shameful act is to stick to an opinion or a statement even if it is proven wrong.
A shameful act is not to apologize when you hurt some one in any way.
Some acts which are not even considered misdemeanors in many countries could be shameful...
For individuals...
-knowing about the impending food crisis, having more than one or two children is shameful ( South Asian countries )
-not giving equal rights to women is shameful ( Arabic countries..especially KSA)
-Hiring maids for household work and treating them like animals is shameful ( most cases in Arabic countries)
-Being Careless in using water and energy should be termed shameful( Most Arabic countries)
- Cutting trees and urban encroachment should be shameful ( All countries)
And for countries...
- Not going for renewable energies and sticking to burning fossil fuels should be considered shameful ( All countries)
-Ruling the country by the barrel of the gun is shameful.
-Unauthorised interference in other countries' affairs should be shameful.
-Arm twisting other countries is shameful
Now, don't you all want this place to be an eutopia?
yes sorry about that.
The topic should not be diverted and I have to agree with you on that
I saw a woman swimming in two piece, where as a guy with him was in only once piece. Absolutely shameful. :((
Theres only one simple test, ask god to provide you with a clear proof for his existence within a week, After that week, if you have got a proof that god exists, send me the evidence, If not, there are only three reasons I can think, 1)God does not exist 2) God does not want to 3) God cant give you this evidence. So if you get no response then there is no God.
i wish we both have some time to sit to together and prove it that whether God exist or not, this is not the forum on which i can discuss..hope to see you in person in near future ,
I might sound a bit boring and philosophical but this is how it is..
Since the beginning, nature has been governing the actions of all animals, including human beings with two basic guides; pleasure and pain. When societies formed, any action which was considered to bring in sustained happiness to the society was considered 'right' and the ones which brought 'pain' and discord were termed as 'wrong' actions. This was based on the unwritten law that the ultimate objective of living is to bring about long term peace and harmony to the society and thus to the individuals.
Since wrong-doers started getting punished, the feeling of shame got associated with 'wrong' actions. The developed intellect, with the social paradigm formed the conscience in the minds of the people.
Needless to say, the feeling of shame, till today, is dependent on the culture and religion of the region. It also depends on the situation and when acute survival instincts are required, an apparently shameful act may not be shameful at all.
So, to me, in a general sense, a shameful act is that which comes in the way of the long term peace n harmony of the society.
to start a topic with a good hope and den leading it to unnecessary conversation is a shamefull act
guys starting a religious bashing is a shameful act.
the gal who is wearing niqab go and ask her if she is doing tht by force if she say says yes den can land up in a decision of shameful act.
Ahmad Deedat on YouTube he is absolutely amazing. If a person does not change in 5 years as you say then means he is not alive or not getting older, it means not included in the life cycle.
Agreed that driving carelessly is shameful and many people said some shameful acts which others agreed with!
It is a shame MBK. :( I'm glad I'm not in their positions.
saad, it is cultural. In other cultures even parents take care of themselves, and don't expect or want to be taken care of by their children's families. Now, when I say taken care of I mean they do not expect and often don't want to live with their children's families or expect to be given money by them.Of course there are some families that do all live together or help their parents financially, but this is not something "expected".The "extended" family is simply not something common in some cultures. That does not mean that they don't interact with each other, of course they do, but there is neither finacial obligation nor pressure on having parents live with their children.
Every one has their own opinion..!! but generally speaking.. Its not about culture, religion, nationality.. Respecting and taking care of your parents is the most important thing for all...irrespective of other priorities nd preferences..!
Maybe they are in love MBK?
After one month holiday Nice to see QL back to its normal self.Ok talking of holidays and distasteful acts. found it it quite distasteful seeing midaged men with young Thai ladies/girls.I guess both are are desperate one because of poverty and the other one because he would not stand a chance back home in his own country.
SA not a single person on this thread has agreed about what is or is not shameful, so we must all be crazy.
SA, I would not ever expect to live with my son's family. As I said, difference in culture.
I am sorry to hear this. i hope the plastic surgery was a success ..
straight arrow , i am simply an atheist but Idont have a list of dos and dont being one.
straight arrow, I simply dont believe that there is God , (in my opinion) but it doesnt mean i have a list of things to follow being an atheist or non believer.
i offered Karak chai in a cup with some poppadum's to a local, he threw tat cup of chai on my laps and smashed tat poppadums on my head.....:(
tats a shameful act he did ! :(
you to burry the good deeds, habits and values.
It is shameful if it does not tell you why are you living.
It is shameful when it tells you that good and bad things are the same.
It is shameful when it tells you that there is nothing called common sense.
It is shameful when it tells you do not respect others.
It is shameful when it tells that your opinion is the only opinion which is right.
his mother and his wife is the only family members left for him (such cases happen).
Nomerci for the above case why "she does not have to live with her son's family."?
Would you like your son to do the same for you?
Well, again, this seems to be a cultural thing. In many cultures a man puts his wife before his mother. The mother can be taken care of in other ways, she does not have to live with her son's family. But again, this seems to be a cultural thing.
I am an atheistIs it shameful?
Afraid..!!.. I believe the wife or the gf (as u say).. should leave that coward animal right away beacuse if a person can be so inhuman and do this to his Mother.. he can never ever be sincere to any one on this Planet..!.. and thts for sure...
When a guy who has mother alone and she is old and want to stay with her son but her son prefers not to let her stay with him because he is afraid of his wife or girl friend.
You won't find any food left on my plate ;)
It is shameful when u see people wasting food every where.. mostly in the Food courts!
More disturbing is when the cleaners throw away the overloaded trays of untouched food and canned / sealed drinks in the Waste bins..
Atleast we should be considerate and thoughtful enough about the millions of people dying of hunger and poverty everyday…
We must be grateful to Allah for being so fortunate and blessed… but u we must not forget about those underprivileged ….!!
Humanity comes first!... and we should play our part..
Newcastle at the weekend..
Amazing place.. Its summer , even in the winter :O)
or Iftar thanks.
TB,
Men will always be men ;) (Instinct)
and a good man is harmless and respectful (value)
TailChopper said "let woman wear what they want to wear"
Ah ha... you have been to Newcastle on a Friday night haven't you ;)
You becoming wise when you are fasting!!
Pilgram..I agree too ..difference of opnion and difference of culture and different prespective...so no point in discussing it..
TB..grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
Yes, make for me one, ;) and i will take it at 7:00pm from you
let woman wear what they want to wear
shame should be in mans eye!! and for your own Godsake...please be happy and spread the happiness
lol TB u big McBurger ! :)
a kinda yes, you know why!!!because what they see in movies, how a western girl is? how they wear cloths, so maximum igonrant people think that they are all same, they can provide us, what we need, so as a result, they come forward, and do such stupid acts, you are girl, mean u are respectable, and then you are a mother, its mean you are much more respectable, but we all know that dressing counts every where,
Ooops... it's Ramadan. Sorry no tea until later, carry on arguing everyone.
look i aint here to convert anyone or force anyone my point of view or my traditions or whatever i believe..... yes we can say and believe whatever we want, ....people sadly do not seem to undersatand what freedom is.....freedom is the power to do anything as long as it doesnt confront or restrict or harm the other persons freedom......all i can say is pilgrim and the lot........remind me of the senceless charachter of a french law maker i once saw on BBC news during the time when they were banning the burqa...he in his ultimate stupidity says....."Vyy vy sheez vearing za burqa...sheez coming in my right to see her fasse!"....WHAAAAT is tht ur best argument....wat da hell ....who the hel are u to say tht its ur basic right to see her face????...and who the hell says tht burqas are enforced on their male kin, when we clearly see ladies still adorning the burqas and getting fines every other day...... heres a suggestion ...pilgrim why dont u start a s*** walk and lets see how many takers wil be there for this......
we are here to respect their cultures and traditions and i do try my best., i certainly dont agree with quite somethings but i am not nosy enuf to say tht is shameful or wrong....my opinions are there but i aint no hypocrite.... so what suits u is fine but ia aint imposing anything on anyone....
shameful for u but not amy expense!!
nice one ingeniero
Cup of tea anyone?
denying identity or ideology is shameless
oh crazysignqal, now you just opened a HUGE can of worms! lol
with timebandit, those are real shameful acts and bringing religious practices in between is not good.
Pilgram, despite you being here for 5 years its quite evident that you dont know the difference in what culture is and religious belief is.
Yes, if the man had worn shorts above his knee and if he is a muslim then, yes is is shameful but if its below and wearing a proper tshirt then its not.
With regard to the women, its NOT a compulsion on anyone to wear a Niqab but its based on religion and bit of culture alone. If one is religious then she can do so, in fear of God only. In Qatar there are many muslim women mainly the expats (shamefully, in my humble opinion) wear tight fitting, clothing exposing the shape of the body. Thats their opinion and their belief.
But women wearing Niqab are NOT forced. its a requirment of the religion, just like the Nuns of Christianty have to. If you see a Nun walking down Cornishe will u admoish her to for being forced into wearing a thing like gown with head cover???its her option to be religious and to please god...How is that shameful???Its in the same lines...
At the same time if you see a woman dressed in tank tops, she is supposed to be NOt shameful is it... she chosing to expose more than 70% of her body to strangers who obviosly will glare at her???the next thing is she is being followed, hawked, raped and thrown in a gutter like a prostitute...who intitated what here???and who was shameful in the first place???
ingeniero, so you are saying if I would have worn hijab this would have not happened?Maybe you are right. maybe this man thought because I am western he can speak to me in this way.I'd say that makes it even more of a shameful act.
Driving too fast, coming too close bumper to bumper at high speed, flashing high beams, not giving enough time to the driver in front to give a safe passage and not caring about self and others safety,
We all have families, don't we? Such a wonderful place is this planet earth, isn't it? and we humans can be good to others and enjoy our life, shouldn't we?
It's a shame if anyone drive unsafe and does not follow the traffic rules, Five minutes late is better than Being Five Feet under the ground...Drive Safely
Keeping four cats in captivity is shameless - to some :O)
but more precisely I find a strange act to waste these tomatos, and I think it is better if these tomatos were sent to poor countries.
Pilgram people are classified to two catogories:
Natural and not natural
Natural people from different back grounds agree on what are strange things and shameful.
Not natural people (could be close to silly people or insane people) do not know what is strange and shameful.
The above is my personal opinion.
Also I would say that I gree 100% with timebandit comments.
Pilgram, you are keeping four cats??? :Obtw what you did to make them in trouble? :)
not your... am talking in general, this doesn't mean that female have no rights, and man can do what eva they want with them, don't take it in wrong direction. there are alot of other things you can think about,
I have four very shameful cats today. They stole some chicken off the table last night and are now in trouble.
nomerci, every one have there own thinking,..not every one, but alot of, if men were 100% fine and good, then there was no need for female to wear hijab,u just shared a story with us, and still you are arguing with me,,.. amazing...
ohh, you mean act, not cat.....
It's a fact to you ingeniero, not to me. No man (or woman) is my superior. Khanan, I have no issues with homosexuals showing PDA. That's where you and I's opinions differ. Which is why it's pointless discussing "shameful" things, when everyone has a different opinion on what is shameful. Unless of course the OP is just trying to start fights.
Also shameful cat is when you think all people are the same.
@NFRS- You should have paid for that chocolate bar....
And yeah, your husband sucks. :P
west want to make them equal, while they can never be.. both have there own rights and duties, man is superior, whether u find is awkward, amazing, unbelievable, what eva, but this is fact,
Khanan, yes, I certainly do.Of course, I had to be a bit more"delicate" as my son was present during all this.
Some of my suggestions based solely upon my observations:- Spitting in public (I'm not going to say who the main offenders of this are)Pushing in at a queue especially in Qtel (traditionally dressed ladies are the worst offenders with this)Grabbing a parking space when someone has been waiting by it patiently to be vacated (traditionally dressed men are the worst offenders with this)Running a red light at roundabout where you know there are no cameras(Land Cruisers are the worst offenders of this) - There are loads of driving related shameful acts in my opinion, but I will just leave it at these two for the moment. Not being prepared to bring an item of jewellery out of a display window to be viewed purely based on appearance of the requester (no this has never happened to me, but I have seen it happen to others) Oh heck... that will do for the moment...
So you find that aspect of their culture shameful SA. So in your own words:It is shameful when you see some people understand the words "open minded" in wrong way, as some understand being open minded means you stay a way from your culture and beliefs.Read more: http://www.qatarliving.com/node/2028196#comment-1946065#ixzz1UzIHUk00
SA, it is too expensive to ship fruits like tomatoes which spoil easily to poor countries.
I am sure you know how to deal with these kind of perverts and it indeed was very shameful and irespectful...
its all about prespective.i found it extremely shameful seeing gays' PDA on TV...
I've seen that before ingeniro, you can search for it here on QL. I still think it's unfair and shameful that meant aren't made to wear the same things.
1. Countries like Spain and Italy which produce a lot of tomatos and then make a festival where tons of tomatos are wasted and people gather and throw tomatos on each other, isn't it better if these countries sent these extra tons to poor countries which need these tomatos?
Same for those countries which throw their extra fruits and vegetables in the oceans so that they say we have met the budget.
ingeniero, that would mean that men are beasts and have no self control at all.
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2486:]]Pilgram, this is the niqab example, why they wear it
i am talking this beach:-http://celebgalz.com/michelle-palmer-arrested-for-public-sex-on-jumeirah-beach-in-dubai/
Your husband sux....
Jayca i am seeing with my 2 eyes which Almighty Allah has given me....Agree, for some sex is a Taboo and for some Sex is an adventure..but showing ur adventure u should not forget where u r showing it ?
Ingeniro I have nothing against women who choose to wear Niqab, what I find shameful is that men aren't forced to wear something similar. I also find it shameful that a man would force his wife to wear niqab and then go walking with him in the heat, while he's able to dress in half the clothing she is. I find that shameful. What beach are you talking about Risks?
agree with TC !
AGREE WITH YOU JAYCA.
Here is what I think is a shameful act.I sat in the QA departurelounge with my son the other day.Not far from me sat a local gentleman. He started talking to me, introducing himself. He told me he was on the way to another, nearby country to go drinking and to meet "friends".He then tried to get my mobile number from me, so that we could be "friends" later on in Qatar. He also told me that his daughter had just gotten engaged. Now, i don't care what this man does with his life, that is his business...but hitting on me in this way is ,IMHO, very disrespectful.
@Rizks- It depends on people's perspective... for some it is shameful.. for some it is an adventure ... For some, sex is still a taboo for some sex is a wonderful thing shared by 2 people in love (or more...LoL ..Kidding!)
It all ends up to each' own prerogative and perspective.
Now, how are you seeing it? :P
hatered is the most shameful act!
no pilgrim it certainly isnt.... but with ur self rightousness attitude maybe u cud advise them to not wear those clothes and adopt ur "correct" ways after all ur opinion is of utmost value to them....... to what they believe and follow and probably u gonna get whats coming to ya.......cheez....hah...u seriously have no idea what ur talking abt....one side u say its shameful and on the other side u say u know what islam dictates....huh...im seriously lost in ur weak arguments.... u aint got no issue aite....dont jus press ur thoughts and arrogance on to a society jus coz u think it aint right.....!!!
ultimate hypocrisy......
Pilgram, why u hate those, who are wearing niqab? why you guys want the muslims girls/woman to be like you? her religion restrict her to wear niqab, and hide her all body parts, then who on earth you are to complain?may be u met some stupid girls, who were complaining about all this, and now u feel this an shameful act, some female don't want to wear or don't like doesn't mean its a shameful act,
anyone ? ...i think trillions of people were there when the couple were having sex near the beach (Including kids) now tats really a SHAMEFUL act !and about having the sex in church, the couple were enjyoing the activity in front of the altar in one of the Cathedral.
Depends if there's anyone around to see them Rizks.
Having sex in an open beach and in Church isnt a shameful act ?
but then this will be a personal decision.
no one should force his/her opinion and I am fine with her opinion and Pilgram is right because it is her personal opinion.
good point ingeniero
How do you know she could have stayed at home SA? Perhaps her husband wouldn't let her.
So what do you think is shameful SA? Because I'm willing to bet that we disagree on what's shameful, and that you think certain things from my culture are shameful.
She could have stayed at home
SA, why u are arguing? she said she think its a shameful act, she is not a believer, that you are explaining to her, its up to her best knowledge, now the one who know the real story, and why it is like this, he don't feel this a shameful act at all. everyone have his/her opinion, you can never change it by force.so leave her on her own, if she don't want to understand,
some people wants to delete the common sense which different people from different cultures and beliefs agree on.
It is shameful when you see some people understand the words "open minded" in wrong way, as some understand being open minded means you stay a way from your culture and beliefs.
SA I lived in Qatar for 5 years, I'm perfectly aware of Qatar customs and the dictates of Islam. However, I think it's shameful that women are forced to dress head to toe in hot black clothing while men get to walk around fancy free. Shameful acts are all in the eye of the beholder after all.
tomorrow they will face similar situations
its shameful to see other people here starts to trash talk when they dont agree to other's opinion and point of view.., its also shameful to see others who think that their opinion is always right., not knowing that this is an open forum and each opinion counts.
We need to respect the cultures of our host country, we may be used to wearing skimpy shorts and tank tops when we go to malls in our home countries respectively, but here we need to be more cautious of what we wear in public while here in Qatar.
have a look at this link
http://www.qatarvisitor.com/index.php?cID=412&pID=985
It's shameful how some men here stop while I am walking in the street and stare at me as if I wear nothing and offer a ride..It's even shameful when someone actually followed me to my flat and knocked on the door,he really was confident i'd let him in..What a shameful act and desperate as well..
Here the traditions are 70 to 80 % are from religion, in religion the woman can show her face and her hand only, man his face, hands, arms, and what is below his knees.
If you want to know why you can go to the Islamic websites and you might get good explainations.
Do you want the woman who puts Niqap to be naked of her beliefs and tradition or do you want the man to be forced to wear things which are not necessary for him?
though the temperature inside the CC, Villagio and most of the malls here is very cold, i still see many westerner ladies walk in mini shorts and body fit t-shirts and tats such a shameful site for some.....
So it's your culture that men should be allowed to run around bare cheasted gtrman?
yeah its ridiculus isnt it.....hah!..... well pilgrim i did notice some guys the other day running bare chested in the corniche , maybe tht wud be ok for u as well..... lols! i who the hell are u to comment on whats right and wats wrong?????.. flash news this is an islamic country and this is culture.........keep ur opinions to urself,........and get off tht cafiene.....
RofL NRFS hahahaha....
Failing to fulfill what my boss had promised me during my joining period is a shameful act... what's more shameful... they wouldnt give me an NOC or release if i resign! >_<
I hate it when my hubby humiliate me in Lulu if I ask him to buy a simple Hershey's 3.50 Riyals peanut butter chocolate...He starts yelling in front of that Filipina cashier....So after getting 2-3 times humiliation I stiopped going with him to any public place.... :(
Last friday,I went to the supermarket.Because of the heat,i bought a cup of ice cream.I opened it in the store and eat, then went out, walked in the street and continued eating. It's day time,so it's fasting time..then I saw a car with a driver in thobe, then i realized it's ramadan.I was so ashamed that i ran and went inside the store again.. I was out of my mind and i totally forgot it's ramadan..Geez,it's shameful..
I want to fly somewhere during Eid and need an exit permit again. Now thats just shameful that expats in this country are still forced to have this unnecessary document.
places is better, of course this woman who is wearing Niqap will not dare to run or walk on the cornich wearing the same as the man because of the tradition and relgious side.
If this woman was told by her husband and agreed then there is no shame, the shame will be only from the man who let his son and wife experience this sever condition.
It will be shameful if he forced her.
read her comment again and again, then ask her to explain it for you.
Because my point was not that they were walking in the heat. Walking in the heat was not the shameful thing.
how much time this thread will take to be locked or deleted in your best opinion...??
there we go........:(
please explain
what this??? :(do u have something good to start early in the morning?
i have one story will never fotgot it ..
one day i went to indian restorant order my favorate peryani .. i saw one old man .. i though hes little poor .. so i just want to give some respect nd treat him like my father .. i give him money .. he return my hand telling to me no no no then i forece him to get the money then i left the place .. then i find out he have a car and hes not poor or even need any ryal .. really i feel shameful that time ..
Gtrman I think it's ridiculous that women should be expected to dress all in black, head to toe in 43 degree heat while their husbands strut around in shorts and t-shirts cool as can be. It's shameful. Men should be expected to dress the same way.
britey are you sure it was in the swimming pool or near some beach ? :)
Mistreating or beating an employee is shameful. Seen it happen a few times. :O(
Its all a matter of perspective. I once saw a couple making love in the swimming pool. To me it was shameful. To them it was probably natural ..
niqab, might be ? so tat the bachelor fishes dont stare at them and drool ?
how is tht shameful pilgrim...oh maybe u suppose if they wore the same outfit then .....yeah they would have been more decent right......cheez... acording to ur naive and narrow outlook.....get a life!!!!
I think you missed my point SA. No Rizks, they were wearing niqab.
Pilgram, i think tat black fabric was scuba diving gears worn by his wife and daughter for getting ready to dive in the Corniche sea ? :)
I will not do this personally at these hot temperatures, but if the temperatures are nice then maybe yes.
I saw a guy walking on the Corniche yesterday in shorts and a t-shirt while his wife and daughter walked behind him dressed from head to toe in black fabric with only their eyes showing, in 43 degree heat. Absolutely shameful.
i was in a Pub last night and the security guy didnt let me in - ONLY coz i was in my transparent Pink Lungi's with a body fit T-shirt....:(tats such a shameful act by tat security fella - i say ! :(
