Cycling in Qatar

Hi all - newbie to the forum

I have just accepted a job offer Qatar and wanted to find out about cycling in the area (road & mountain biking). A search of this site brought up a number of old threads mainly focusing on crazy drivers & heat, but I have been cycling in KSA for almost 3 years and find neither to be as bad as they are made out to be. Anyone regularly go out or have some up to date info on clubs, shops, routes etc.

I understand that velodrome was taken down after the Asian games with a view to building a permanent structure, I can't find any recent news on this so assume things have stalled?
