Dental experience in Doha
I have recently had issues with a wisdom tooth in which I needed a consultation here in Doha and wanted to share my experience...
Once I realised I need to see a dentist I set to work doing my research online as to where to go. I came across a professional website for the German Dental Centre next to Doha clinic. The saff were friendly and helped me arrange an appointed ASAP as I was in pain.
I went to my consultation on the 18th September explained my problems an examination was carried out and it was immediately clear to the dentist the tooth was infected and needed to be removed. I had an x-ray and was told I would need some medicine. So I was given an injection in the gum to numb the affected area followed by the dentist creating a hole in my gum to insert some medicine. I was then given a gauze to stop the bleeding and told to come back on the 5th October to have the tooth removed.
I couldn't talk or ask questions and I was not given any explanation as to why the hole was made or if I would experience pain or any problems. I was so nervous going in I hadn't thought to ask these questions until I got home.
One week after having the hole put in my gum I was unable to eat or talk without being in pain and the thought of having to wait another 10 days to have the tooth removed seemed a little too long as this was affecting me so much. I called the German Dnetal Clinic to discover the dentist was out of the country until the day of my appointment. I started to question if waiting this long for the tooth to be removed was totally unneccersary. I explained my pain over the phone and was told I would have to wait till the next day to see if another dentist at the clinic would be prepared to remove the tooth. By this point I needed help quickly.
A friend recommeneded Dr Sarahs Dental Clinic on Salwa road so I called up and luckily there was a cancellation and I was able to visit that evening. I took my previous X-ray with me and visited the Oral Surgen. He took one look at my X-ray and explained my problem and that the tooth would need to be removed with a possibility that the bone obstructing the tooth would need to be moved and I would need stitches. I was asked when I would want the procedure doing. I asked if it was possible to be done immediately to which the dentist agreed. The dentist was professional and explained that he would try removing the tooth non surgically before anything else. I again had the injection in my gum which was a lot less painful than the first time around. The dentist then started the procedure which took no more than 5 minutes. The dentist knew how scared I was and remained calm and reassuring throughout. I didn't even realise the tooth was out when the dentist said 'all done'. No bone removed or stitches put in.
I had read previous dental posts about Dr Sarahs being a money making place but if that was the case I would have gone through surgery rather than the very simple procedure I was put through.
I cannot recommed Dr Sarahs Dental Clinic enough. When I was completely petrified and in a lot of pain Dr Sarahs Clinic was able to help me quickly and effieciently. The price was probably higher than other places but still reasonable for the service I recieved and although I am still quite sore I couldn't be happier!
Ya right...TFS your experience with us
