Gaddafi 'captured' or 'dead'
Commanders for Libya's transitional authorities say they have captured ousted leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.
Unconfirmed reports say Col Gaddafi has been killed, and AFP obtained a mobile-phone image apparently showing his face covered in blood.
The reports came after transitional forces claimed control of Sirte, Col Gaddafi's birthplace.
The colonel was toppled in August after 42 years in power. The International Criminal Court is seeking his arrest.
Haha democracy???
Now the tribes will get busy killing each other while the oil companies carry on their job..
I would have commented on Qatar's future role as well but didn't want to give Mr. Flor a stroke ;)
i agree to wht u say. i can see libya becoming another iraq in a span of few years.yes the video whch i saw says it all.whch is the uncensored one can u tell
all are in very unstable conditions right now. Hope for the better, but for sure, EXPLOITATIONs will come out and you will know who the real good guys are!
It will take many years for the reconstruction or maybe another generation!
After i saw the video of gaddafi`s execution (uncensored one), I ask myself "are those the guys who will set up democracy ?"
Blair must be relieved tat his secrets has gone to the grave....
'Gaddafi just like Saddam was found hiding in a hole and said don't shoot, don't shoot'
SIRTE ( LIBYA): Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi who died of wounds suffered during a gunbattle to capture him reportedly said "Don't shoot, don't shoot" to the men who grabbed him from the hole he was hiding in.
FATHIMA - what must Tony Blair be thinking??
I agree with you 100%. But I am guessing ultimately the NTC itself consisted of so many opposing individuals and some may have very well acted on emotions more than well thought of strategies. Years of oppression and pain can bring out the worst in people and that may have very well been the case here.
But now its left to be seen if the NTC will here on think to better Libya and act accordingly or simply be thrown frying pan into the fire like. Truly my prayers are with them.
CHUTZPAH - you are absolutely right...NATO was just a facade for a fully US controlled campaign. Uber Schmuck (US) gets his man...doesn't matter if it takes a year or 10. By the looks of it we won't rest till we burn the world down. It is time we keep our nose out of others business and set our rotting house in order first..
I feel no guilt saying I feel a tinge of sadness on the Col.'s death. Flamboyant bugger. How would you ever know whether he was hiding in a sewer and begging for his life??? It could all be disinformation.
The guy had the bal*s to stay back in his own country till the very end. An end meted out by a motley crew of rabid creatures directed by you-know-who.
Farewell King of Kings of Africa. Watch up/down on your country and see it ravaged by the capitalist monsters.
Joe - yes really. replace one non puppet dictator with a compliant one.
Though very horrific end but one must admit the he bought the Libya on World map with development. But finally to say too much power possession lead him to turn dictator and meet the pity end. CHUTZPAH... Your are right this could be the TEst case for Iran and you have already read the Britain selling its Missiles to India which were used in Libya by NATO(explaining the performance of it) MERCHANTS of DEATH ! !
inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'oon, May his soul rest in peace, Amin.

Well he got what he deserved for a change instead of all the medals the guy was found of hanging on his uniform. Tyrants and despots around the world will be more careful now on how they treat their people.
GOOD OLD JOE - same same = NO CHANGE
TRIPOLI: Colonel Muammar el-Gaddafi was alive but wounded and bloody when he was captured. Television footage showed him being dragged around by armed men in Sirte. Channels also broadcast a separate clip of his half-naked corpse,
The images punctuated an emphatic and violent ending to his four decades as a ruthless and bombastic autocrat who had basked in his reputation as the self-styled king of kings of Africa.
As news of the Gaddaffis death spread, the Arab twittersphere lit up with gleeful comments , many of them hinting at a similar fate awaiting other Arab dictators - most notably President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen and President Bashar al-Assad of Syria. One of them read: "Ben Ali escaped, Mubarak is in jail, Qaddafi was killed. Which fate do you prefer, Ali Abdullah Saleh? You can consult with Bashar." Another was more direct: "Bashar al-Assad , how do you feel today?"
CHUTZPAH - This guy never gave others a chance to defend themselves or to go through the due proces of the law and he and others like him should expect themselves to be treated the same way they have been treating others. They say he died like a dog in the street
Anyone get the feeling that Libya was just a test case for Iran????
With so much oil reserves...it's not surprising that they had decent living standard! It's not poverty or unemployment they were fighting against. They just wanted the dictator and tyrant out.
Fathima - they killed him without due process of the law that they say they aspire to in a civilaised country. They accuse him of barbarism. when they have acted the same themselves. NATO has bombed Libya back to the stone age and there will be extreme hardship for them. For all its problems, I hear that Libya was the most progressive of all african nations with the best living stds
ACE - "Without putting a single US (service member) on the ground, we achieved our objective"
thats an out right lie. There were american operatives everywhere in Libya.
we cannot runaway from God's justice...
“Peace and justice are two sides of the same coin.”
Inna Lillahi wa inna Illaihi Rajioon ...
May his soul rest in peace..
one of the great leader of his times.. after lots of controversies still i liked him.. these few i-e Zulfiqar Bhutto(Pak), Shah Faisal(Saudi), Colonel Qaddafi(Libya) and some others leaders of Islamic countries were working on making an Islamic block.. and they all were killed one by one for different reasons..
one hanged, other killed by nephew, no this one killed brutally.. and the stories go on.. now we have just puppets and morons in the race...
FA, Yes, he was known as the 'mad dog' and he did die a mad dog's death at the end..
Everyone ultimately gets what they deserve and death will come to us all someday. Guess someone with as much might and power as Ghaddafi once wielded, must never imagine such a terrible end would befall him,but it did. To all those survivors of his oppression this will for sure bring some much needed closure.
Obama hussein says: "Today we can definitively say that the Gaddafi regime has come to an end. The dark shadow of tyranny has been lifted." "Without putting a single US (service member) on the ground, we achieved our objective, and the NATO mission will soon come to an end."
What stands out: "we achieved our objective".
He was also know as "MAD DOG" of the Middle East.....
RIP....
The toughest job of the NTC would be to withdraw the huge amount of ammunitions which were used by the rebels and then to include all tribal leaders in the next government whoever had participated in the revolution. Its difficult to please everyone.
Which is next ? Syria or Yemen ?
Another tyrant bites the dead.. Once feted and regaled by the same entities who engineered his end :O)
Another tyrant bites the dust..
Once courted by those who engineered his end :o)
He could have fled to neighbor contry...
He could have fled to neighbor contry...
Two different stories how he died, but one thing for sure, he is dead. That's it!
What an end!...He was found hidden inside a culvert!
now you will see many stories crop up......
His killing, which came swiftly after his capture near Sirte, is the most dramatic single development in the Arab Spring revolts that have unseated rulers in Egypt and Tunisia and threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.
"He (Gaddafi) was also hit in his head," National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta told Reuters. "There was a lot of firing against his group and he died."
Mlegta told Reuters earlier that Gaddafi, who was in his late 60s, was captured and wounded in both legs at dawn on Thursday as he tried to flee in a convoy which NATO warplanes attacked. He said he had been taken away by an ambulance.
There was no independent confirmation of his remarks.
An anti-Gaddafi fighter said Gaddafi had been found hiding in a hole in the ground and had said "Don't shoot, don't shoot" to the men who grabbed him.
