Hi,

I'm offered a basic salary of 20K QR as a monthly basic until my confirmation 6 months later where it will be revised to 22K QR, and thereafter reviewed yearly based on performance.

I'm also given monthly housing allowance of up to 10K QR, monthly transport of 2K QR, schooling allowance for of up to 20K QR per year per kid, and all other perks like annual trips back, medical, etc.

I'm concern of whether I will be able to get a reasonable housing for a family of 5, and reasonable living with enough left over to save.

Please advise.

A good 4x4 starts at around QR100 000. Once you get your Residents permit you'll get instant bank finance - no problem

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advise.

For my pay wise, it will increase yearly and as & when I get promoted as the company expands. I believe in about 5 years, my pay should be at least 30K QR.

I will also eventually have annual performance bonuses and gratuity when I decide to leave.

Housing allowance will be revised as my appointment increase in the future.

For transport, how much does a car cost? An average 2500cc 4WD. As I will be just posted, I'm not sure whether the banks there allow financing.

Schools tend to be the worry as I noted from the forum of how kids will need to wait for even up to 2 years. Surely I couldn't have my kids not in school for such a long period.

Anyway, I'm taking up the offer and is now awaiting the visa or resident permit or something like that and should be in Qatar by the escond week of November.

Thanks for all the advise.

It depends on what your standards of living are.

Expect school fees of about QR35000 per year per child at most schools. Your housing allowance is enough for a 3 bedroom apartment or villa. Expect groceries to be about QR5000 per month for a family of 5. You can buy a decent car for QR2000 per month.

Entertainment and eating out at good restaurants is very expensive and clothing is also expensive.

It is a good offer, and you will be able to get a nice flat or a villa consists of 3-4 bdrs for 10k, you will also be able to save some money for sure.
