HAPPY THANKSGIVING
It is that day of year when Western Expats, particularly Canadians and Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is traditionally known as a celebration at the end of harvest for a good harvest. It is the time when individuals give thanks and blessings for what they have. While Canada and America may be the most widely known places which celebrate Thanksgiving, it is also recognized and celebrated in Grenada, Liberia, Netherlands and the Australian external territory of Norfolk Island.
Fortunately expatriates can celebrate a hardy Thanksgiving in Doha. This is the time of the year when there will be a selection of frozen turkeys, cranberries, marshmellow crème, yams and other delectable’s associated with Thanksgiving. Let's not forget the availability of the much talked about PORK too... :-P. Megamart and Shoprite grocery stores usually have the widest selection of Thanksgiving staples although FFC may have some Thanksgiving offerings too, like Stove Top Turkey stuffing etc.
American Thanksgiving always falls on a Thursday. This makes it very convenient for American expatriates in the Doha as Thursday is the weekend and they can party their arses off after Thanksgiving dinner ;-P.
So let's give THANKS for whatever we have and don't have in our lives... and look forward to getting invited to a Thanksgiving dinner tonight :-). Have a great one y'all!!!
