Arab games entrance now FREE

I overheard from the radio last night an Arab Games official announced that ALL games entrance fee is now given free. He said this is to encourage locals and expats to cheer for their team. Only the entrance to the Closing ceremony will be charged with a fee.

Made me think, was it not free in the first place? Maybe that's the reason why the seats at the tennis competitions at Khalifa Tennis Complex were almost empty. Except for the Arab Games workforce, you can only count a few cheering public.

BTW, Congrats TUNISIA Women's Tennis for winning the GOLD.

Husbands are always right.

The article states clearly unfortunately that those who thought they had the foresight to buy tickets will NOT be reimbursed - sorry for that.

The authorities really HAD to open up the events for free admission - I mean its one thing to see an empty auditorium save a few clusters of giggling nationals watching the women's gymnastics - its quite another to see an empty 60,000 seat stadium for the final of the mens/ladies 100 metre final............global press hounds are always looking for yet further evidence that Qatar is not capable would and yet may, jump on it in a flash.

So will the handful of people who bought tickets get a refund??

I almost got tickets for the finals for swimming. Husband said just show up and they will let you in. Guess he was right!

i am disappointed by al jazeera's coverage of the arab games. of 10 sport chanels only 2 are showing arab games, while the other 8 are re-rerunning uefa and football leagues! yesterday noon they were even airing a RERUN of takewando of korea against kazakhestan! than cincinaty open tennis from 4 months ago, while at the same time there were judo and tennis lives in doha uncovered.

:(

I was tempted to post the Gulf Times on this in the 'funnies'. While I was driving this morning I heard the ad "buy your ticket now" at least ten times within 15 minutes. As if they don't know what they are doing.
