Yesterday a Sales Rep. referred from a friend came to promote their Water Purification System.

He gave a demo by putting electrodes (+ and -) in cup of tap water and purified water from their system. The tap water turned yellowish (dusty) whereas the purified water more or less the same. Even bottled water showed similar change in color, as per the Rep. bottled water are more dangerous as we don't know the source & handling practice.

IS this a Fraud practice to sell their commodity or there is some truth in the demo?

heard about something similar(fraud)in UAE on radio before

Among GCC Countries qatar governments water is good.Because they use the RO process, but the condition and cleanliness of pipework and storage tanks is extremely questionable. So use UF OR UV FILTERS.Never use RO process in home, because once the water undergoes through RO Process and we again try to pass the water through RO Purifiers its TDS Value becomes below low(ie,no required minerals in it),regular use of this may cause cardiac problems.

thank u guys for the useful insights on the subject matter. will sum up that both systems (purifying & bottling) r not foolproof.

a number of people complained about unknown particles in their bottled water, at the same time removing 90+ percent of bacteria is also not healthy either.

just found an old discussion on the same http://www.qatarliving.com/node/70272

It is my understanding that bottled water manufacturing standards include RO as part of their purification process, then essential minerals are added back to water in the latter stages.

So debating whether RO-ing already bottled water purified thru standard manufacturing process is senseless. On the other hand, planning to implement or install RO systems at home would be costly, since the level of water-hardness (due to inherent problems in operating distillation process in massive scale). RO-ing water running on the taps will be so great that you'd end up paying a premium (eg. replacing RO membranes every ±4,000 liters or so as is typical capacity for residential water purification systems) that any cost benefits will no longer be realized.

I Have Studied Water for almost an year as My Final Year Project In MY University Was Based On This RO system So This IS A FAct That This Botteled Drinkin Water Is No More SAFE The Best Purified Water IS The RO Purifier Just PM Me I Can Get U All The Details U Want On This RO System

I Normally Dont USE this RO System I Use Sand or Clay Purifiers Bcoz I Consider them o be More Natural Like In a Well

did you try to google it? the water is tasteless, odorless and mineral less.

So,it means we should not be using RO purification system...But it said that it is the best to remove impurities from water even in india also...Please correct me if iam wrong...

The thing that strikes me most about these RO(Reverse Osmosis) purification discussions is that those promoting the idea that "water without ions is bad" are typically the groups selling filters that do remove calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, etc. (the "beneficial mineral ions") from the water. It is true that RO removes the "good" minerals along with the harmful contaminants, but it is by no means true that drinking water is the only source (or even the primary source) of these minerals. But one cant deny the fact that the Basic source and need of the menirals for human body is Water, If a person's diet is so bad that they must depend on drinking water to meet the minimum daily requirements of certain minerals, If not they will probably be severely malnourished and have a variety of medical problems.

As we all know that H2O is water and The test done in your house is nothing but electrolysis test which is used to see the TDS (Total Dissolved Substance) in the water, as in electrolysis hydrogen is seprated from oxygen through two electrodes ie: Anode and Exode, TDS if you see any botteled water you will come to know what is TDS,as it is mentioned on every botteled water available.

But the Sales man who came to your house is just fooling you as the water change he is showing you as dirt and contamination is nothing but TDS(Total dissolved Substance) essential menirals such as (calcium, manfnecium, potassium, etc) which is essential for our body,…..

I think this is enough to understand

Bottle water is safe and good, cost attached to it for quality.

thanks guys - sharadm111, timebandit & DshahLes for ur inputs.

@ timebandit - 312.5 approx of Rayyan water :)(don't ask me how many days will i use the same)

plus change 3 filters EVERY 6 - 8 Months and another 2 filters in 2 years

That could be simply explained by principles of electrolysis.

When water is subjected to an electric current (from one node to another) and it contains other "heavier" elements like minerals, etc - these "contaminants" (not necessarily bad for consumption) decay and usually clumps into bigger particles which can be perceived with the clarity of the water.

If a "distilled" water is subjected to the same process, you'll notice that the same will not be observed, because, thru the distillation process, these heavier particles are removed.

The only thing you need to know when it comes to water potability is whether or not it contains organisms harmful to you (eg. E-coli, salmonella, etc). Given the strict regulations in the manufacture of bottled water in the Gulf, I doubt this could be a problem.

How much bottled water can you buy for the price of the filter?

Bottled water is 100% safe & if somebody is challenging the quality of this water & he is knows what he is doing then he should not do it in your house he should come forward & demonstrate the same in public & even make public health authorities aware that these companies are selling impure which may cause epidemic or major health related issues.

This guy is simply trying to sell his product by demonstrating this to you.

what i came to know through general discussion is they embed the technology to kill bacteria and germs in water purifier...

while demo what they add is just to promote their product

go for bottled water which are sold in big malls like al-meera, lulu hypermarkets.. as they directly get supply from factories and the water factory have regular checks and quality controls, need not worry about it...

Yeah... they have been operating here for like past 10 years... use same technique to convince people to buy their systems.. cant say "Fraud" but its not all 100% true..
