I know this topic maybe old but since I’m new in Qatar Living I need your help. I have residence visa from UAE, can I keep my visa without cancellation until my children finish schools in June 2012 and come to Qatar for work. My work place issued my work visa and I supposed to move to Qatar in March 2012.Any one has experiance in such issues or may work in immigration. Please advice.

Thanks

@ Sum :D

Thanks Qatarisun!

It is the extra cost for the sponsor to hold 2 visas for the employees, it is not cost effective in long run.

try to drag finalizing of your Residence permit until the end of the academic year (June? July?). They won't ask for visa cancellation until the last step.

On the other hand, it is possible to keep a dual residency in some cases...depends on who you are dealing with

Of course you can keep both visas. We have had 2 valid visas for years as long as you come back to each country within 6 months. You do pay additional fees to keep dual visas. We have to pay ourselves since it's not covered by the company.

depend on your current sponsor in Qatar to allow you to hold both visas; he could issue a letter to Qatar immigiration dept that you have a genuine reason to hold both visas and will ensure to cancel within a year.

The best person to answer your query is your Qatar sponsor's PRO (mandup)

Try one thing, explain your situation to your current employer, ask him to get a 3 month business visa for you here, then u go back to dubai, and again come back with a new visa, then after your children finish their school there, cancel that visa and arrange for ur and family visa here from your company, companies can do that easily, only they should be willing to do that, otherwise you have to wait for your rp then get them on visit visa, keep them for 6 months and then convert into their visas to rp in 6 months time with ur salary statement etc, but mind it now ur salary should be min 10k for family visa in doha

Another option is..you can come here on a Business visa which is valid for 3 months...and keep your UAE visa until your kids finish school and then cancel that and apply for a work visa here.

You can't keep valid work visas of two GCC countries at the same time, so you have to cancell UAE Visa then you will get Qatar visa stapmed on your passport
