Disrespect for women in qatar

By bssameera

I went to police station ,because we had an accident. There I was sitting in a chair in the hall and my husband was speaking to a police.

Then came another police and asked me who i am and why I am there.I replied that my husband is inside. he left from there.

after a 5 minutes he came again and shouted on me saying something in arabic.luckily my husband came there and I told my husband .

i felt like taking his name and complaining against him.
If this happened outside some where out its ok.Insult for a woman in police station by a police man.

CL, some like to believe that English is the official language because it's the language used for communication, at least in their offices.

Maybe when they need a police report, they get a specially translated English police report, because they don't feel the need to know or even try to learn the language.

Cl, in this cool weather, you still need ice to cool yourself down.

I feel it's their sense of humor. Because where I was working previously, some Arabs unnecessarily talked to Indians in loud & shouting voices & they found it extremely amusing when the lower rank Indians got scared. It is a cultural problem as well.In Arab culture, politeness is akin to accepting inferiority to someone. It is not a part of general public manners.

dont expect the people around be polite, first of all they are also human beings, they must be getting bugged with somany complaints these days compared with couple of years.

We have to get our work done, dont expect Tea/ polite behaviour.

Arabic is official language, at the same time we can always find English speaking people every where.

R u also from a part of the world where u unable to voice ur opinion, anywhere else in the world if tht took place it will be taken to task so b4 u go and say it happens all over make sure u have ur facts in order. The fact tht a policemen speaks to ppl like tht and nothing gets done abt it to correct the wrong is disgraceful.

More unfounded claims without proof to attack Qatar. So much jealousy.

What is the point of learning arabic? Most people living here are non-arabic speakers anyhow.

Take an example (again) of Dubai where you are adressed in English. As with many things, still a long way to go here

No, English is the business language whether you like or not. What is the point of learning Arabic ? We are just here to work a few years, (Mod Warning : Comment Deleted. Avoid Assumptions) make good money and leave again. We are not here to integrate.

KK, why should they speak in English, when the official language is still Arabic, just so it's convenient for all the expats.

Why don't all the non Arab expats learn to speak Arabic instead, so communication becomes easier.

By kkforever young• 10 Feb 2012 11:05

No, this is not the norm worldwide.

Police needs training how to deal with the public. It would help if they can speak English at least.

@Well said elegance, people just want a chance to start criticizing the people here and start a nationality bashing.

@bssameera: when the police man spoke again, did you ask him with a smile what he said and that you don't understand what he is speaking. How are you so sure he was shouting at you? you have no idea what he said, but assumed that he insulted you. I am sorry you felt this way, but next time, ask your husband to clarify or clarify yourself, and better still, stay in the car, and let your hubby finish the formalities.

@Suresh, your attitude speaks more of yourself than anybody else.

Perhaps it was time of the month for him...you should've asked him politely why he is raising his voice to you? Don't understand why people get scared? If you've done nothing wrong, speak up and stand up for yourself.

Every action has equal & opposite reaction. If you have such reaction, they may also have the same for you. Please refrain from making such comments. Whatever happened to her is bad and unacceptable. Police has habbit of putting fear in anyone's mind to show their authority.

Madam forget & forgive the police man.

Well dont blame that police man... Coz it all depend on how their wifes treat them in homes in that specific morning..? If they had a fight, he or any will definitely shout on you.. But if they dont had a fight thn they will greet you with roses... Sorry to say but i faces these situations alot....
