Hi
I got an offer from one of the Qatar govt org as below
Salary - 9200/- qatari riyals
Family status - (to & fro travel charges per year + visa charges+ medical insurance) for entire family.
Fully furnished family accommodation with electricity & water charges.
Local transport.
45 days paid leave per year.
1 salary bonus per year.
5 years bond.
I am a Indian civil engineer with more than 17 yrs of exp.(5+ yrs in Dubai)
I am in dilemma weather to accept it or not as my current salary in India is more than offered in qatar. My company in India is highly reputed, ethical & very stable. Also I don't have sufficient info about qatar living standard
Can u please guide me in this as ur opinion is very important for making my decision.
Thanks in advance.

You have 17 years experience as a Civil Engineer and you would work for 9,200 per month, less than you are getting now? Seriously?

you are 100% right. I think he must grab this job in Qatar. If currently I am geeting more than this offer in my home country, why should I bother to grab a job leaving my home country !!! Even I should not asked like this question in QL. So, I think QR. 9200 is big enough for him & he just asked this in QL to get some info about living in Qatar.

If you are getting more than what is offered why are you thinking of it to be in a dilemma. Stick with your existing job in India and enjoy.

BIG NO!

You total package turns out to be about 16000 QR per month. This is not bad offer, but for a civil engr with 17 years genuine experience much more should be for offer, in the range of about 24000.

The salary, housing sounds reasonable but thats the easy part, then when you want to change your job or if you cannot get on with the boss or one of his cronies or managers then will come the tough part in trying to get a NOC, etc and besides you never know how long they will want you to work with them. Keep in mind this jobs are not guaranteeed.

Less money than India and a 5 year bond!!!! Never heard of co's taking bonds out here. The offer you are getting is very very low. No ways if i have to commit to 5 years of my life with one Co wo a penalty.

since it's government u might be kicked out with the Qatarization schemes.

and if u get in india more than that then don't accept it ..

in addition you won't be able to bring your family if ur salary is less than 10,000/-

a Simple and big NO...

you are earning more in India, So what is the main reason in coming here?

in next few years you will be more stable and getting huge salary plus a high designation in India.

Why want to start from scratch here again?

17 years experience = 4000+(No of years experience)x1000 Salary
