Is it possible for a single man to adopt a newborn at Philippines?

Iám keen on exploring this opportunity and would greatly appreciate any help or directions I can get in this regard.

Has anyone else had any experience in this regard?

there are enough indians out there for you to adopt. Better get married first. Else you will be accused of something worse...

yes it is possible as long as you can support the child financially. Seek help from DSWD. If I may ask are you a filipino?

Softlad and aosalzar - Thank you for your comments and offer of help. This issue is resolved as the baby has been adopted by someone else.

Hi! I would like to ask what nationality you are? In our country there are 2 ways in adopting a child, first, domestic adoption and second, international adoption. If you are a filipino then you can adopt a child whether you are a single or married but age require perse, it should be 18 years older of the adopter to the adopted child and some other qualification and requirements to be followed (under family code of 1988). If you are foreigner (under international adoption), you should be married to a Filipina, and court procedures shall be followed like appearing to the lower court (court of first instance or regional trial court)that you are capable to adopt. If your adoption granted then you have custody of the child, and her biological or legitimate parents right over the child shall be extinguished. Some laws I cannot mentioned here. If you want I can explain to you further the said law in our country by just informing me your landline/telephone or mobile number.Thank you.

what youre suggesting is called kidnapping and human child trafficing.!! my advise is forget it...go back to your home country if you feel so strongly and do some good works there in some orphanage. by the way the sentance for child kidnapping in the philippines is hanging.

the people who are saying that they have measures to bypass the legal procedures are just trying to make money out of you. don't believe them. it may even be just a scam.

as they said, it is difficult for a single person to adopt a baby by himself. the ultimate aim for adoption is for a child to have a happy loving family and grow up to have as normal a childhood as possible. it is not a stray dog or cat you can simply pick up from the street just because you felt sorry for it. besides, if i was the social worker, i would be very suspicious on why a single man would want to adopt a child. what if you're a pedophile who wants to adopt a child and raise him/her to be a sex slave? and there's the more common human trafficking issue as well, which i believe this case would fall under should you decide to proceed because you are essentially paying people to take a child through illegal means.

Blue bull, as noble as this may be...what are you going to do with a newborn while you are at work?

Are you in the Philippines or here in Qatar? I think you are trying to circumvent the law by going the "illegal" way. If you are a risk-taker, then try it, BUT don't come here and say we did not WARN you!

Ok accepted. Please guide me anyone.

You do if you don't want to end up losing the child and going to jail!

A lie which saves a life is better than hundered truths :)

Frankly, I dont need any legal illegal distinctions to be able to do what I intend.

of course you can adopt a child but legally I don't think so. Check first with the DSWD.

That all sounds a bit suspect and totally illegal to me. I don't know what adoption procedures are in the Philippines, but I'm willing to bet it's illegal to just "pay someone" and get your name on the birth certificate.

Ok here's the story - I came across a case last week where there is a unwanted newborn left by the parents in one hospital. I was told that this baby is not registered anywhere and I have a window of about a week to make a decision. Unregistered birth means that the paperwork can be bypassed by paying to someone and then I can get a passport for the baby with me as the father. Not sure how true is all this info but my heart says that I can take care of this unwanted baby as my own and hopefully provide a good life.

Firstly thank you for the interest in adopting a child from the Philippines. However, this possibility is rather slim for a unmarried person. Even for the same nationality of a male gender it is rare that this wish will granted. You can of course get in touch with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and see what they will say. Good luck!

Legal adoption would mean passing through concerned government agency, in this case DSWD. Specifically since the person adopting is single and the child will be taken out of the country (as I understand it, BluBull is an Indian, so a foreigner).

Anyway, no harm in trying but best to do it the legal ways!

flor - creepy huh?

bluebul - but the answer is yes. even if you are a single guy you can still adopt a philippino child, you and its parents can talk and have a agreement, No need to go to DSWD.

logically (if there's any logic at all), why would a single male will adopt a child as in this case, the preference is new-born? Are you the person, BluBull?

it's not necessarily man and woman, right?

It can be man and man or woman and woman? Let me think! Lol!
