How can I obtain a visit visa for my South African son, so that he can travel to Doha with me?
Hello All,
Hope someone can offer me some help/advice. I have secured job in Qatar recently and will travel soon. My employer has given me a temporary visa and therefore cannot assist me in securing a visa for my son until I have completed the 3 month probation period and receive my permanent visa. They have advised me to get a visit visa for my son to enable him to travel with me to Doha. However, the process for obtaining the visit visa for my son is unclear. Since he is on a South African Passport, he is not eligable for a visa on arrival. I have read online that I should use a 5 star hotel to get a visa. However, other information I have read states that using a hotel is only for tourists and not for those who will be staying with their family.I would appreciate it greatly if someone could clarify the procedure for me. Thanks a lot!
Hi Dear
Unfortunately for us South Africans the situation is a little more complicated.I feel for you as I am Two months here in Qatar and experienced similar frustrations and stress.
the first option is to appeal to your company to organise a visa for your son. this will then enable him to travel with you.
the second option is to organise a visit visa via a hotel. Unfortunately this means that you would need to pay for hotel accomodation for every nite that he is here.My husband did that for a week and it is quite costly.
The third option is to come down, get yourcompany to start the application for your residence visa ASAP. If they work fast you can get that within three weeks. thereafter a few days for you to apply for your sons visit visa.
the visit visa is for one month, extendable to 6 months.
If you have any other q's........PM me
Age is not an Issue for Obtaining Family Visit Visa!!
But for that You need to Be here in Qatar, Have a Valid RP, then You require NOC from your Company inorder to Apply for a Family Visit Visa for your Son...
It's almost impossible. Until you have an RP you cannot sponsor him. A tourist visa through a hotel is possible but as far as I know there has to be a Qatar resident who acts as the responsible person. Rules change all the time so I'm not hundred percent certain of the current situation. When are you intending to travel? Remember 1 hour of Africa time is equal to 1 minute of Arab time - a match burns for 3 days here!
What's his age? is he under 18?
