back in the UK..how much your annual income? And your income tax? Here in Qatar..no income tax.

I think this is fair value for the kind of salary you are drawing in the UK and the level of experience you have.

Dont forget, these days a lot of UK and US expats trying to move to middle east so the supply has suddenly increased. Dont worry, if you decline this one, there are two richards and one john waiting in line to take this job away.

Right now if you are single, you should go for it. You can find a decent flat from Ezdan or others for 6 to 8k. Groceries for a single person would go upto 2k max and 2k for the car. So all in all your main expenses are only 12k (this is top line). Then everything else is upto you how much you want to save and how much you want to splurge

Ouch! No,not good compared to what you are making now. It's sort of top-of-the-bottom, if you know what I mean. That's NOT a good place to start in the Gulf.

Ive received proposed contract through and looking for advice....doesnt appear as appealing as its now based on 6 days...ie additional 52 days a year and holidays dont appear as appealing bearing in mind you will have to take 6 days leave for every week off...

[*]Basic Salary - 20000QR[*]Housing allowance - 8000QR[*]Transport Allowance - 2100QR[*]General Allowance - 5900QR

[*]Annual Performance Bonus: 0-3 months[*]1 Annual Leave Flight.[*]Medical Insurance.[*]End of Service Benefits.[*]Working hours Sat - Thurs 8am -5pm (48 hours)

I currently earn £50K here in the UK for 5 days so doesnt look as appealing as it first looked.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

The 36K includes housing/Power and Water.I will be coming out on my own.

Sorry, but I'm still not clear on the "All inclusive" point. Does that mean 36k + housing + power and water? Or does all that come out of your 36k? I agree with Mandi, half of that could be spent on rent if it's not included, and then you don't have much left. If you have kids, you should know that daycare/schooling can be expensive, and this should be included in the package.

it's like telling the companies that filipinos can manage if given a small salary. please, there are more filipinos who accepts only VERY good offers because this would fit our liestyle.

I think you misunderstood me. Not intended to be racist here. Just saying that there are filipinos earning as low as 2-3k and they can survive happily. That's all. If a person earning 3k can survive alone, don't see why 36k can't . If I have offended you as a filipino, then I am sorry. This is not a forum to say who is greater.. MY vs filipinos as I believe everyone has their own strength & weeknesses.& everyone is the same in the eyes of God.

A wrong place to ask such a question. If you are single go for it. You will be able to get a good apartment or villa for 8-10k and if you spend 6-10k or even more on food and others you will still be saving 16k. Just compare your present earning with what you will be getting here. I will not tell it is a great offer but it is a good offer.

45K gross , i believe your take home pay would be arround 2700/ month which equates to QAR 16000

so 36000-16000= 20000

post modernman is right- 2 bedroom fully furnished apartment in west bay is around 12K (all inclusive)

20000-12000 = 8000/(5.90)

you are 1400 pounds better off excluding any bonuses.

if you are single, i would go for it.

try negotiate bit more if you can.i.e if you dont have kids, company is saving some money on that (school fees) , mention the abvious to your company and you might be able to get some extra.

i did the same and managed to get 20% extra than they intially offered

hope this helps

over all its not a bad package.

Cheers

if you want housing similar to the UK, you will want to spend 10-15K plus utilities. Add in car expenses 2-3K, do the math.

"All Inclusive". I take it that means rent, power, water and travel allowance. Compare to what you are getting in the U.K. and if the offer is considerably more, and you think that you would feel comfortable living in a different culture, then take the job. Awesome experience and 99.999% more sunny days here that England. Your family will be over here visiting you every opportunity they get.

I disagree with mandillulur. Looks like it's more for a single person. I would say it's more than enough & you can live a comfortable life + savings. An appartment with facilities would cost somewhere bettween 6k ( semi-furnished & 8k for fully furnished ) . Alternatively you can get really cheap ones as low at 2k for just merely a room.

For anyone who earns 10k & above are eligible to bring in families. So for 36k as a single person, it's more than enough. Filipinos here earn as low as 2 - 2.5k a month and they are able to survive. I don't see why you can't.

Anyway moving here to a muslim country is indeed a challenge as cultures are different. If you are able to adapt, then you are most welcome here.

You could easily spend half that on housing alone.

That way I can help you on a like-for-like comparison.

Just compare what you are getting back there in UK and what you will be getting in Doha... and it also depends on your lifestyle that how much u will be able to save here.
