Can I drive My friend car

Hi all,

I am here in qatar and in the process of the residence permit, I have a driving license from UAE and my friend propose for me to drive his car till I buy a car,

So is it legal to drive his car?

wrong information. My friend drive my car with Egypt Licence for the past 6 years. He was invloved in few accidents and nothing happened. We even got insurence claim as well. Don't give wrong information to the people if you don't know it

so even if i convert my UAE license i can't drive a private car here?

and I only can drive rented car ?

You can drive only rent a car here in Doha with UAE or international license.To drive a Qatari private car you must have a Qatari dr license.

Many expats drive locally registered cars here without holding Qatari license, do so because of ignorance and once involved in an accident ,shall be treated as without license and will suffer paying through their nose.

yes, you can. but, i recomend you to get a temporary licence from traffic dept. it is just half hour job there, but, you have pay QR 150 plus typing charges. they issue a temp licence for 3months.

i just have gone through it recently.
