Where are the Camels?

BlueBull
By BlueBull

In last few years I have noticed a great deterioration of Camel population in Qatar. Earlier I used to see herds of camels on my way to Dukhan and Messeid but not for last two years those numbers seem to be declining. this is just my observation and I dont have any statistical analysis to prove. Have others noticed the same? Where are these camels vanishing?

avam - The fences are a good way of keeping the camels safe and it shows our government's committment to animal welfare.

Camels are huge animals therefore it is difficult to not spot one.Crashing into one is different story because of their unpredictable nature. What is missed is the fine unbroken line on both the sides of the road (fencing) to benefit both, drivers and camels. We should be thanking the government's effort for fencing, for the benefit of all highway user.

I had very similar views until recently when I visited eye doctor who changed my prescription for a better view.Since then I never missed those fencings.

Cherrukan - You are a very smart guy but my friends are the ones who asked me this question. Once I get the answers here, I will go back to them with a full report :)

Risks Daru was here a week ago.

Bluebull, if you have a friend who provides you camel milk every day why don't you ask him this question.

I think that can be one reason Rizks...there is a long history of competition between camelss and horses. Camels become jealous very fast and refuse to give rides to people who rise horses. History is full of such examples. We only need to find that tree and talk to all the camels as a team.

Let me know your thoughts on this important political issue.

Memories of Dawn ( MoD) - As far as I know, it is not prohibited. But I only know so much.

I have my Qatari friends with farms who regularly provide me with one litre camel milk everyday and I think it's not prohibited.

Rizks - Camel walk all the time I thought. The babies walk alongside their mothers. Feeding is a real problem specially if there is no grass. But who is to be blamed?
