Misleading Classified Ads
I dont understand why people keeps on advertising flats for rent and when you call them they will say I dont have. When I tell them that it is posted in Qatarliving website they will tell me they have nothing to do with it. Office is the one doing it. I flagged it a lot of times but I will still see the exact and the same ads the following day.
Shellyjean ... many of us feel your pain. Unfortunately your experience seems to be the norm in Qatar.
Best of luck finding a great place!

Mandilulur took the words out of my mouth. what u said and expressed is not ranting; it's called the truth. been there done that :(
Shellyjean, your ire is understandable! These crooks and idiots waste your time and try to scam your money. They don't even seem to know what they are doing is wrong, it's the way they do things "back home."
Mandi
shelly, have you tried out the advertisement column on gulf-times? i mean they have pretty good flats over there, and maybe some are costly, but actually maintained by the real estates, and there are no agents involved.
check the classified section of the gulf-times online at www.gulf-times.com and make ur move!
in my opinion the classified section require a serious changes, and implementing minor charges on the ads will be the best thing which will benefit both (visitors and site owners)
I am in a depressing hunt for an apartment right now. Have been screwed over about 3 times this week and wasted SO much time.
YES! And what about the ones that are repeated 30 times in a row??? And THEN they don't have it?
And the guys who take your deposit when the flat isn't available?
And the guys who show you apartments, knowing your budget, and then saying it is "just" 500 or 1500 or ????however much more! I know it is harder for them to find what I will like in my price range than an open ended one, but don't waste my time!!I am not playing games with the budget, show some respect for me.
To the guys who don't show me the bottom of the barrel-thank you-even if I don't like everything, I can still tell you are trying. To the guy who took a deposit and then told me it was taken. . . . the rental system here sucks. I don't know if it is your fault, the manager or the owners fault, but it makes the salesguys and the owners look bad and it is SO frustrating!! I finally find the places I like and I am buying APPLIANCES and you do this to me. Grrrrrr. And to the guy who got us all excited about a place and then told us that the owner decided to offer it to a company (entire building). Well, why are you people wasting our time??? It puts me off the entire company and I won't want to see that (HUGE) property developer's places much anymore.
And to the company with the furnished flats that have a 2 burner electric cooktop and a weird micro/convection oven rather than a proper cooker-all in a BEAUTIFUL (otherwise) kitchen-I am not looking at your flats anymore. The kitchens are a joke! All the cupboards and marble countertops and NOTHING to cook with(the small fridge is pushing it, but not ridiculously)?? PULEEEZE. You know who you are. It might be great for bachelors reheating their stale pizza, but that's about it.
And CLEAN/paint the apartments before you show them. I have seen many apartments for the same price and some paint and clean and some apparently think I should do it before I move in-including removing the trash, dead furniture and vegetables of the old tenant. Labor is cheap here, I don't care how much of a sellers market it is, take a little pride in your properties. I used to rent apartments-low end and high, and they were all cleaned meticulously. Start the way you mean to go on. Prospective renters will not always respond accordingly, but you won't be turning any of them off and wasting time trying to rent a filthy place when a nice one can be had down the street for the same money.
3 main reasons:
1- they posted the wrong number in the add
2- they already sold rented the item
3- they are in london and want to steal ur money.
