Carry as little hand luggage as you can, I know that's easier said than done with a toddler...ask for the buggy to be taken at the gate and returned to you at the aircraft. Also, think about investing in a trunki, it's a case on wheels which your little one can sit on,and you can pull it - it really is a god send for me :-)

Whenever I used to travel with my toddler .. I always took seats in last row near to tail ... because, it's always easy to go back in from of the doors and stretch out... or take kids at that place without disturbing others.

I would say, try out this time... You will not regret... I have tried this for years... and suggested many people..

Lol Rich, it's worse when the child sits behind you, constantly kicking your seat...

I agree with OmLayla...also try to get a seat in the cot rows so you have more space for your child to move around a bit. Bring favourite snacks or maybe treats to encourage him/her to sit at take off and landing, bribery usually works. It will also ensure your child's ears don't hurt if they are chewing at these times. Take a new toy which they've never seen before or not played with in a long time so he/she is excited and it will amuse them for longer. My little boy has been flying with me since he was 8 weeks old and absolutely loves it - make it as fun as possible. Night flights are definitely the way to go, they sleep all the way through. Best of luck, relax and your child will feel secure and happy too :-)

I have been travelling with daughter on long flights(more than 9 hrs)since she was 10 months old.The easiest to handle are infants because most kids fall asleep easily during the flight. For the older kids it is good to have few things with you that will keep her/him busy like books or toys. And the best option is to choose night flights:)
