Business Visas

Hi all

I'm in advanced negotiations for a move over to Qatar for a perm role.

The company are telling me that I will get a business visa granted within a couple of days and then when I arrive I then have to apply for a residency permit within two weeks of arriving.

Is that correct?

I'd prefer something a bit more concrete than a business visa as it's a big move!

Thanks

tinkerbell10, working while holding a visa on arrival is incompliance with the law. do not suggest it.

jp61. this is a normal practice. You come on the business visa, in the meanwhile the company will have a quota for you (if they still don't have it), then they will issue a work visa, and convert your business visa into the work visa, and then they will proceed with your residence permit. I doubt it will take 2 weeks though.. It MIGHT take 2 weeks if they act promptly, which is doubtful. Be ready for at least 1 month or so to stay on the business visa..

Sounds standard. As long as it's a reputable company all should be well.
